Beast Driven System

The modern age of human society had undergone an evolution that changed it forever. Mana had arrived on Earth, and with it, came a meteor shower that threatened to reduce humanity to nothing but rubble and debris. Earth's governments were thrown into chaos because of this, and many military units were deployed to protect the masses from what they could only assume to be the end of the world. Using the most advanced arsenal possessed by the various world military governments, the adverse effects of the meteor shower had been controlled to an incredible degree, protecting most of Earth's inhabitants from utter annihilation. There were countries that were destroyed, leaderships and citizens wiped from the face of the Earth. Reconstruction had to be done to bring the demolished landscapes back to their former glory. It seemed like everything had gone back to normal, however, that was far from the case. Months after the meteor shower incident, world renouned scientists dedicated their time to studying these strange crystalline meteorites. Years later, and something ground breaking had been discovered-abilities. These meteorites, they weren't actually meteorites, but crystals. Where they had come from was unknown and still being researched up till today. From the crystals came abilities that changed humanity forever. Those who could afford the crystals were fortuate enough to obtain strange powers from within. Fire, boulder, serpent, and many others. Many more years passed by, and more and more was being discovered about abilities and the crystals they came from. Everything seemed to be heading up after the phenomenon that nearly destroyed the Earth, but not everything was for the benefit of everyone. For many years, most were oblivious to the presence of abilities on Earth. It wasn't until an alien invasion occoured, that the information on abilities was made public. Strong ability users were needed to defend Earth against the Shales. The government, private and public corporations, and many others, they were all monetizing whatever crystals they could get their hands on, using it as a means of earning revenye from the populace. Those who were rich enough to purchase ability crystals could become ability users, while those who couldn't would simply remain as regular humans. Many rich families in the new world were able to obtain strong abilities for themselves and their children; the ones who would continue their lineage and glory once their parents are no more. In order to learn how to defend humanity from the invasion of the aliens, people from the ages of 16 were ordered to attend a military academy by the decree of the federal government of their respective countries. Failure to abide by this law was punishable by jail time. Kayden, a sixteen-year-old from a city known as Black Saber city. Having lost his parents at a very yoing age, he had to live with his single uncle and his cousin. Like many other teenagers his age, he desired to attend military school to learn how to fight against the Shales. However, being unable to afford an ability, his dreams of becoming powerful seemed like they would be crushed, but that all changed the day he had been given a system that allows him to unlock monsters by completing quests. On his path to evolve, he must face multiple challenges, complete quests and go on missions just to grow in strength. For in the current world, only the strong are regarded, while the weak are cast aside and forgotten. That was the general rule, the rule that governed everything that happened. From a crystal, came a power that changed his life. Now, he must do whatever it takes to save the people he loves and cares about. He must make sure that he doesn't loose the people he cares about once more.

Needing An Answer (Part 3)

If it wasn't for the fact that he was meant to be at the abilities class at the moment, then Kayden would've done way more than he had already accomplished after the student had dared raise his hand against him. Right now, he didn't even care about the fact that he was being Rasheed or inconsiderate. Or even that he was acting in the same way that people like Kayla would just to get what they want.

Letting go of the male student's wrist, Kayden had then turned his back towards both of the students, making his way towards the abilities class. He didn't care whether or not they chose to attack him at this point in time, as he believed that he had done more than enough to intimidate then so they wouldn't try to do anything like that.

At the abilities class, he was hoping to ask Dan about how he was able to handle himself for so long against their instructor during their previous class. He was also interested in a potential sparring match between himself and the instructor during the class, as well.

He had made it into the class just in time, right before it was about to begin, along with the two other students. He had gone ahead to join with his two classmates who also had mystery class abilities, and the class for the day had begun.

"To begin today's class, I would like to assist Marcus over here to learn more about his ability. Although I haven't heard much about it, I do know quite a bit about your ability, memory alteration. I also came to know that your previous instructor had assigned a group of civilians on the first day of class to help you practice using your ability.

"Now that has given me an idea. Why not try using your ability on your classmate here?" Lucas proposed, pointing at Kayden.

"Eh? Me?" He asked, pointing towards himself with a confused look on his face.

"Why not? Not only will it serve as a means of him learning more about his ability, but it will also.help you develop a skill called mental resistance. Have you ever heard of it before?' The instructor asked him.

"Mental resistance? Now that I think about it, does it have something to do with me gaining a certain level of resistance towards mental abilities the more I am exposed to them? So far, that is all I can assume it is," Kayden replied, remembering everything he had ever come to know about abilities on Earth.

"Bingo! Right on the money! The more you are exposed to such abilities, the more your brain is able to develop resistance towards them. Though your mind is unaware that it is being manipulated when such an ability is in use, it quickly becomes aware of it the moment the ability is deactivated," the instructor explained further.

'Mental resistance, huh,' Kayden thought, staring at the floor.

"Meanwhile, Dan and I will resume our little spar from yesterday. I'm impressed at how you were able to withstand a number of blows from me and was able to.last so long before eventually losing. You seem to be showing the most potential in this class. I like that! Now, while Marcus practices his ability with you, the two of us will continue our sparring match!" The instructor yelled, seeming quite excited for the fight that was about to begin.

"I hope you know what you're doing?" Kayden asked Marcus, looking at him with a serious gaze. He wasn't ready to have someone influence his mind, for fear that it might lead to something dangerous. In the first place, it was risky for ability users to suffer any sort of brain damage, as it would usually lead to a permanent disability for them.

"Yeah, sure. I'm pretty sure I've gotten the hang of this now. Still, it's not like I had done something to those civilians from back then, right?" Marcus responded with a nervous chuckle.

"Hmm. Yeah, right. Just please don't fumble and make a mistake. I love my brain, thank you very much," Kayden said, folding his arms together.

Marcus began to concentrate. He had activated his ability, and began to pour his Mana into his ability in use. Since the instructor hadn't given him any instructions as to what to change his memories into, and also because he hadn't asked, he had decided to go ahead and change his memories into whatever he wished it to be.

"Now, come at me!" The instructor yelled, getting into a fighting stance, ready for combat. Dan had charged forward immediately, and the battle between the both of them had begun. So far, both of them had ignored using any form of martial arts in the fight, focusing mainly on common blows and punches. So far, the point of the match was just to see what Dan was capable of on a basic level.

"Now, tell me, why are you at the academy?" Marcus suddenly ask his classmate

"What?! I'm sorry, but do you have amnesia or something? You know why I'm here, dude! I'm a superhero! And I've been sent here as a precautionary measure in case the Shales decide to attack this academy once again," Kayden had replied with an agitated look on his face.

At that point, Marcus had suddenly burst into a fit of laughter, falling back first onto the floor as he couldn't contain his laughter, causing Kayden to raise an eyebrow in confusion as to what was going on.

The battle between both Dan and Lucas began to get serious. With every kick and blow he would deliver, the instructor would deliver a counter, while also planting kicks and punches of his own, though ensuring not to use more of his strength in his attacks.

'What's this?' The instructor suddenly wondered, as a kick had connected with the side of his face, but the force behind it was unable to do much in the first place.

"I will make sure I beat you!" Dan yelled out in determination, quickly switching to a kick as he raised his leg up in the air, swiping it as it was about to connect with the side of his opponent's face. However, Lucas was able to predict this move on time, allowing him to grab the foot midair, before twisting it and pushing it against his opponent, forcing his back to hit the floor.

"You seemed a lot more determined to beat me today! If I'd ask, why are you so interested in winning a match against me?!" Lucas asked, wondering if he would have a decent enough response.

"Everyone knows why we strive for strength!" Dan shouted back, putting all his energy and Mana into his right leg, hoping it would be enough to break free from the instructor's grasp.

"I'm not sure if I like that answer!" The instructor responded, further twisting the student's leg until a snapping sound was heard. "At this academy, I believe there is more to one's strength than a need to defeat an alien invasion! Why do you personally desire strength?!" Lucas asked, not letting up as he proceeded to grab the other leg before it could do anything against him.

Twisting the other leg as well, he had completely immobilized the first year. Still, it didn't appear as if he was through. There was still a fight in his eyes, making it clear that the match wasn't over. From the palm of his hands, a bright red aura began to form, and before the instructor could respond, he had hurled the attack towards the hands grabbing both his legs.

With the fire class ability he had received from one of the students before the match had begun, Dan hoped if it would be enough to help him break free from the instructor's grip, however, that didn't seem to be the case, as the latter didn't even do as much as flinch after the attack had made contact.

"Nice try, but you need to do better," the instructor said, lifting both of his arms into the air, raising Dan's body up before slamming it against the floor. The force of the imoa t was enough to knock Dan unconscious, as the match between both of them had come to an end.

"Marcus, how's your own training coming along?" Lucas asked, letting go of Dan's legs as he walked over to the other student.

"Oh, I did a good job! I managed to change his memories to make him believe that he's a superhero. Here, you can go ahead and ask him!" Marcus responded, excited by his results.

The instructor nodded his head in approval, before ordering Marcus to change Kayden's memories back to what they were before. Meanwhile, a fist had connected with the side of the man's face. However, he was unfazed by this, turning his head to look at the boy.

"I guess you want to go another round then."
