Beast Driven System

The modern age of human society had undergone an evolution that changed it forever. Mana had arrived on Earth, and with it, came a meteor shower that threatened to reduce humanity to nothing but rubble and debris. Earth's governments were thrown into chaos because of this, and many military units were deployed to protect the masses from what they could only assume to be the end of the world. Using the most advanced arsenal possessed by the various world military governments, the adverse effects of the meteor shower had been controlled to an incredible degree, protecting most of Earth's inhabitants from utter annihilation. There were countries that were destroyed, leaderships and citizens wiped from the face of the Earth. Reconstruction had to be done to bring the demolished landscapes back to their former glory. It seemed like everything had gone back to normal, however, that was far from the case. Months after the meteor shower incident, world renouned scientists dedicated their time to studying these strange crystalline meteorites. Years later, and something ground breaking had been discovered-abilities. These meteorites, they weren't actually meteorites, but crystals. Where they had come from was unknown and still being researched up till today. From the crystals came abilities that changed humanity forever. Those who could afford the crystals were fortuate enough to obtain strange powers from within. Fire, boulder, serpent, and many others. Many more years passed by, and more and more was being discovered about abilities and the crystals they came from. Everything seemed to be heading up after the phenomenon that nearly destroyed the Earth, but not everything was for the benefit of everyone. For many years, most were oblivious to the presence of abilities on Earth. It wasn't until an alien invasion occoured, that the information on abilities was made public. Strong ability users were needed to defend Earth against the Shales. The government, private and public corporations, and many others, they were all monetizing whatever crystals they could get their hands on, using it as a means of earning revenye from the populace. Those who were rich enough to purchase ability crystals could become ability users, while those who couldn't would simply remain as regular humans. Many rich families in the new world were able to obtain strong abilities for themselves and their children; the ones who would continue their lineage and glory once their parents are no more. In order to learn how to defend humanity from the invasion of the aliens, people from the ages of 16 were ordered to attend a military academy by the decree of the federal government of their respective countries. Failure to abide by this law was punishable by jail time. Kayden, a sixteen-year-old from a city known as Black Saber city. Having lost his parents at a very yoing age, he had to live with his single uncle and his cousin. Like many other teenagers his age, he desired to attend military school to learn how to fight against the Shales. However, being unable to afford an ability, his dreams of becoming powerful seemed like they would be crushed, but that all changed the day he had been given a system that allows him to unlock monsters by completing quests. On his path to evolve, he must face multiple challenges, complete quests and go on missions just to grow in strength. For in the current world, only the strong are regarded, while the weak are cast aside and forgotten. That was the general rule, the rule that governed everything that happened. From a crystal, came a power that changed his life. Now, he must do whatever it takes to save the people he loves and cares about. He must make sure that he doesn't loose the people he cares about once more.

Free And Busy

The adventurers who were in the town at the time had chosen to work together to take care of the incoming beast horde. Using their abilities, they ensured that not a single creature made it into the town, protecting the lives of the innocent civilians. Upon noticing that there wasn't a single beast still following him, the werewolf decided to slow down his pace before eventually coming to a stop. Looking back, he noticed that there were people ahead who were dealing with the threat. Seeing this, he decided to cancel his transformation and hide behind one of the building, waiting for the adventurers to finish what they were doing then clear a path for him to head back into the Adventurer's Guild.

In the first place, the two people who knew about his ability were Dan and Marcus, and neither of them were here at the moment. No one would suspect that he was the one responsible for putting their lives in danger. The reason why he decided to head back in was because he wanted to ask the Guild Master if there was some other way he could use to get stronger, hoping that he would have a good answer for him.

Heading inside, the stench of alcohol and drugs wafted through his sensitive nose, causing him to feel more uncomfortable than a normal person would feel. Still, bearing through the pain, he made it to the counter where the Guild Master could be seen doing his own thing. Gaining his attention, he went straight to the point, asking about someother means to gaining strength.

Just as the man was about to say something, everything around Kayden had suddenly paused. His environment began to change, catching him unaware as he found himself in the Arena once again, leaving him utterly dumbfounded.

'The two hours are up already?' he wondered, scratching his head in confusion. Although he wasn't really keeping track of time, he didn't feel like that much time had passed since the simulation had begun. Something else must have been going on that he was unaware of.

Stepping out of the tech room, the instructors quickly met up with Kayden to inform him about what was going on. She seemed to be in quite a rush, telling him that her attention was needed elsewhere and that he was now free to do whatever he wished until it was time for him to head to the magical weapons' class.

Shutting the large double doors behind her, Kayden began to process all of what had just happened. This was a first for him. He had finally gotten a chance to take a break during a time that wasn't either at night or early in the morning. Checking the time trough his watch, he saw that it was just twenty minutes pass one. He had over an hour left before the class would ended to do as he wished.

Of course, he had no intention of getting back into the simulation. Heck, he didn't know whether or not the person working the simulation would let him back in without the authorization of the instructor. For now, he decided that he would just head back to his dorm room and get some much needed rest.

Later that day, he had woken up minutes before the last class for the day. Heading past the hallway, he made it just before the class was about to start and joined with the others.

Meanwhile, in a particular room which students were not allowed access to, the instructor for the mystery class division stood before a group of people sitted at a round table. Bowing her head in respect, she asked why she had been summoned here in the first place.

Sitted before her were some of the most influential people in the world today. They were not only the leaders of the various military academies across the world, but they were also closely related to one of the current major world leaders as well. They wouldn't just call someone to meet with them if there wasn't a matter of utmost urgency to discuss. With this in mind, she was hoping that the case wasn't too serious and that it was something that she herself could easily deal with, but that would simply defeat the purpose of her being called here in the first place.

"Agent Nero, you have been summoned today because we wish for you to assist in curtailing a prevailing issue taking place in the city of Black Saber. Over the last few months, the rate of kidnapping had increased rapidly. At first, we allowed put subordinates to deal with the mater themselves, however, they have proven to be ineffective in apprehending these criminals.

"The numbers of complaints we have been receiving daily is astonishing. We had no choice but to get more involved in the matter. So, we have decided that we would send you down to the city to assist the local police force in dealing with these criminals. We don't know how long it might take till you get back, so we have decided to hire a substitute instructor in your place."

At that moment, stepping into the room was a man with curly blonde hair and an earring on. He wore the required clothing combination that deems him worthy of being at the academy. Making his way towards the board, he bowed down towards them, before turning to give a wink at the female instructor.

"His name is Lucas Wong. He will be the substitute until you get back. You will be leaving for Black Saber tonight, so I advice you go and get ready to leave as soon as possible. If you have no further questions, then you are dismissed until further notice."

The man seated at the head of the table finished what he had to say, leaving everything in the hands of the woman, whose name was Beatrice. Although she had gone out on missions before, she never expected to be selected for another one so soon. Her last mission had oy ended two weeks ago, a few days before the new set of students were brought to the academy.

She had a busy life just like everyone else, and didn't know how she would explain to her loved ones that she would have to leave and go on another mission assigned to her by the board. Since she had nothing left to do at the academy, she decided to head back home early. Unlike the students, the teachers were granted freedom to move in and out of the academy whenever they wished, as long as they didn't have a class to teach at that point in time.

Beatrice lives in a nice, well-furnished building with her husband and there kids, and while she's a high paid instructor at one of the major military academies, her husband is a high-ranking official in the military. They both had ties with the military, however, it was mostly Beatrice that would have to go out on missions, since fights between humans and the Shales weren't as frequent as they were in the past.

Although her job paid quite well, that didn't mean that she didn't miss spending quality time with her family. There were times when her kids would go for weeks without seeing, or even hearing from her. Sometimes, they would even forget that she even existed, simply because they barely talked to her or even saw her. And now, just when she was starting to think about leaving her job for a while, the board had gone ahead and given her another mission. How was she meant to refuse some of the most powerful people on Earth?

She would just have to wait until she got back before deciding to take an indefinite leave from work. That night, her and her husband had a talk about what she was planning on doing, and although he seemed upset that she would be leaving once again, he was glad to hear that she would be taking a leave from her job once she gets back.

Back at the academy, Kayden was focusing on the use of his Ring of teleportation. After having a good rest for the first time in a while, he felt more energized than he would usually be. The glow in his eyes seemed to have returned, as he was far more active during the class than anyone else.

Eventually, the class had come to an end for the day, and everyone was ready to head back to their dorm rooms and call it a day. However, Kayden was starting to get worried about what Marcus and Dan might be going through. Moreover, later than night, he had noticed that Paul was the only one in the room with him. Although he knew of how Shawn liked staying out until it was close to curfew, something was telling him that all three of them were absent for the same reason.
