Beast Driven System

The modern age of human society had undergone an evolution that changed it forever. Mana had arrived on Earth, and with it, came a meteor shower that threatened to reduce humanity to nothing but rubble and debris. Earth's governments were thrown into chaos because of this, and many military units were deployed to protect the masses from what they could only assume to be the end of the world. Using the most advanced arsenal possessed by the various world military governments, the adverse effects of the meteor shower had been controlled to an incredible degree, protecting most of Earth's inhabitants from utter annihilation. There were countries that were destroyed, leaderships and citizens wiped from the face of the Earth. Reconstruction had to be done to bring the demolished landscapes back to their former glory. It seemed like everything had gone back to normal, however, that was far from the case. Months after the meteor shower incident, world renouned scientists dedicated their time to studying these strange crystalline meteorites. Years later, and something ground breaking had been discovered-abilities. These meteorites, they weren't actually meteorites, but crystals. Where they had come from was unknown and still being researched up till today. From the crystals came abilities that changed humanity forever. Those who could afford the crystals were fortuate enough to obtain strange powers from within. Fire, boulder, serpent, and many others. Many more years passed by, and more and more was being discovered about abilities and the crystals they came from. Everything seemed to be heading up after the phenomenon that nearly destroyed the Earth, but not everything was for the benefit of everyone. For many years, most were oblivious to the presence of abilities on Earth. It wasn't until an alien invasion occoured, that the information on abilities was made public. Strong ability users were needed to defend Earth against the Shales. The government, private and public corporations, and many others, they were all monetizing whatever crystals they could get their hands on, using it as a means of earning revenye from the populace. Those who were rich enough to purchase ability crystals could become ability users, while those who couldn't would simply remain as regular humans. Many rich families in the new world were able to obtain strong abilities for themselves and their children; the ones who would continue their lineage and glory once their parents are no more. In order to learn how to defend humanity from the invasion of the aliens, people from the ages of 16 were ordered to attend a military academy by the decree of the federal government of their respective countries. Failure to abide by this law was punishable by jail time. Kayden, a sixteen-year-old from a city known as Black Saber city. Having lost his parents at a very yoing age, he had to live with his single uncle and his cousin. Like many other teenagers his age, he desired to attend military school to learn how to fight against the Shales. However, being unable to afford an ability, his dreams of becoming powerful seemed like they would be crushed, but that all changed the day he had been given a system that allows him to unlock monsters by completing quests. On his path to evolve, he must face multiple challenges, complete quests and go on missions just to grow in strength. For in the current world, only the strong are regarded, while the weak are cast aside and forgotten. That was the general rule, the rule that governed everything that happened. From a crystal, came a power that changed his life. Now, he must do whatever it takes to save the people he loves and cares about. He must make sure that he doesn't loose the people he cares about once more.

Ending The Conflict

In a panic, Stacy didn't know where to run to. As soon as her legs began to move, the first thing that came to mind was the classroom nearest to the hallway. Quickly, as soon as the other student collapsed against the floor, she ran towards the classroom door, pulling it open and rushing in before slamming it shut behind her.

Standing against the other end of the door, huffing and panting, her heart rate at an exceedingly fast pace, sweat running down her face. She wasn't sure how long she had until the student barged into the classroom.

"What am I gonna do now?" She thought, as her eyes fell upon the windows to the other side of the classroom. "Wait, but won't I get in trouble if I leave school? But it's not like I'm not already in trouble with that girl.

"Should I just go and report her to the principal? Won't that just make the situation worse?" She asked herself, as her legs brought her closer and closer towards the windows. "I guess the principal can punish her for going after one of the other students, but then what would happen after that?

"They might not expecting her, and if we end up bumping into each other in the future, I don't think she'll just leave me alone," Stacy was contemplating what to do as she was very tempted to just leap through the window and run away from school.

Remembering the kind of father she had, who would disapprove of his daughter running away from school, and the thought of getting punished by the school authorities, she was having second thoughts of leaving the school.

Which meant there was only one option left.

Outside in the hallway, the fight between Kevin and Maya was still ongoing. It wouldn't be long until the time for first period, but none of the students cared about that as all eyes were fixed on the fight taking place. A couple teachers even passed by, not batting an eye or looking in the direction of both students fighting in the middle of the hallway.

They didn't feel the need to get involved in such student matters, since the students who were facing off weren't weak by any means. Moreover, it would just be more bothersome for them to get more involved with the students than they already were.

After a while of fighting, it looked like Maya was the first to start showing signs of tiring out. This was to be expected, since she was the weaker one out of the two of them. Realizing that she was gradually running low on Mana, she was thinking of what else she could possibly do to help her out in winning the fight.

With Mana, one could continue fighting for as long as they want, as long as the Mana is there to replenish their body. However, there are certain cases where something like this is not the case. One of them may be due to the person's body using more Mana in attacks, leaving little of it left to heal the body.

Another reason may be because the person is unable to implement important techniques to help increase their body's rate of Mana regeneration. This may be caused due to the stress of battle, or one not knowing or forgetting how to implement the techniques.

For Maya, she had yet to enter military academy, so she had no idea of the Mana regeneration technique known as total concentration breathing or other similar techniques, so she had no means of regaining her Mana back at a quicker pace.

In the first place, she was only ever as good as fighting and using her ability thanks to her opponent. Abd from the way the fight was progressing, it was clear that Kevin hadn't taught her everything he knew.

Being who he was, there were certain things he would keep to himself. He was also running low on Mana, his movements were also beginning to slow down as he was channelling more Mana to keep his attacks consistent, while allowing his body to gradually grow sluggish with time at this rate.

Still, there was a smile on his face as he lept back and pulled his fists to his sides.

"It's clear I taught you a lot back then," he said, closing his eyes. "But I wasn't foolish enough to teach you this!" He yelled, opening his eyes as a new wave of power had overcome him.

____________

The previous day.

Kayden and Shawn were still fighting against Kayla, and it was then that a system notification had popped up.

[A talent has been detected in your city!]

[Defeat him before he wrecks havoc!]

"What?!" He yelled, loosing his guard, allowing Kayla to capitalize at the opportunity and deliver a blow to his throat, sending him flying back.

____________

Looking at Kevin, Maya wasn't sure if was a good idea to attack him the way he was. For some reason, there was something about him that felt different. His eyes, the glow in his eyes were far brighter than they were before, and the flames surrounding both his hands, they were blazing more ferociously than they were before.

Maya knew something was wrong.

Immediately, he charged forward, his fists carrying the flames like rocket engines. As he zoomed past, a heavy gust of wind blew against the students, forcing some to stand their ground and squint their eyes, while some others were being pulled by the strong wind and had to grab hold of something so they wouldn't be carried away.

'He's gotten faster,' Maya thought, as she had lost track of him, abd in that brief moment of uncertainty, a fist had collided with the side of her face, producing a loud bang as a cracking sound was heard, her head swinging to the side as blood spew from her mouth.

She was knocked to the ground, but not only that, her Mana was reaching zero at this point, meaning that she was pretty much now useless in the fight.

With nothing else to do, Stacy decided that she would report what was going on with her and that female student to the principal. Her name was Haisel, and Stacy couldn't just keep running away from her like this. She had to do something to put a stop to how she was being treated.

As her hand lingered above the door handle, the door suddenly swung open, slapping her across the face and knocking her towards the ground. Blood dripped on the floor as she ran her shaky hand against her lips. Then, her eyes slowly trailed the door, from bottom to top. A pair of shoes could be seen, and once she made eye contact with the girl, she felt the air around her grow thick and heavy.

Before she could move, the heel of Haisel's foot met with her nose, knocking her entire body backwards in the air, falling on her back on one of the desks, knocking it out of its position and creating a loud noise.

"You got a lot of nerves, weakling," Haisel said, pressing her leg against Stacy's chest, applying force against the area around her heart. "This school, heck, this world is meant for the strong like me. There's no place for a powerless nobody like you."

Stacy could feel the pain on her chest as she tried her best to pry off the foot, but the girl was too strong. With how badly she had been injured already, she wasn't sure how much longer it would be until she looses consiousness.

"What on Earth is going on here?!" A voice yelled out. Turning back, Haisel was wondering where the sound was coming from, and quickly realized that it was coming from the hallway. She recognized that voice quite well, and as the panic began to set in, she raised her foot from Stacy's chest, and dragged her body up by grabbing hold of her neck.

"I wasn't here. Got it?!" She threatened, pointing her finger at Stacy.

Stacy looked at the girl up and down, not bothering to give out a proper response.

Haisel was contemplating what to do, but then, as she heard the footsteps of the man grow closer, she had no choice but to let go of Stacy and run towards the window, leaping through it like it was something she had done multiple times before in the past.

While Kevin and Maya were still going at it, the school principal had gotten news of what was going on in the hallway, and instead of just calling both students over to his office to give out punishment, he decided to head over to where the fight was taking place himself since he heard that the fight taking place was quite heated.

He had a feeling that words wouldn't be enough to end the fight.
