Beast Driven System

The modern age of human society had undergone an evolution that changed it forever. Mana had arrived on Earth, and with it, came a meteor shower that threatened to reduce humanity to nothing but rubble and debris. Earth's governments were thrown into chaos because of this, and many military units were deployed to protect the masses from what they could only assume to be the end of the world. Using the most advanced arsenal possessed by the various world military governments, the adverse effects of the meteor shower had been controlled to an incredible degree, protecting most of Earth's inhabitants from utter annihilation. There were countries that were destroyed, leaderships and citizens wiped from the face of the Earth. Reconstruction had to be done to bring the demolished landscapes back to their former glory. It seemed like everything had gone back to normal, however, that was far from the case. Months after the meteor shower incident, world renouned scientists dedicated their time to studying these strange crystalline meteorites. Years later, and something ground breaking had been discovered-abilities. These meteorites, they weren't actually meteorites, but crystals. Where they had come from was unknown and still being researched up till today. From the crystals came abilities that changed humanity forever. Those who could afford the crystals were fortuate enough to obtain strange powers from within. Fire, boulder, serpent, and many others. Many more years passed by, and more and more was being discovered about abilities and the crystals they came from. Everything seemed to be heading up after the phenomenon that nearly destroyed the Earth, but not everything was for the benefit of everyone. For many years, most were oblivious to the presence of abilities on Earth. It wasn't until an alien invasion occoured, that the information on abilities was made public. Strong ability users were needed to defend Earth against the Shales. The government, private and public corporations, and many others, they were all monetizing whatever crystals they could get their hands on, using it as a means of earning revenye from the populace. Those who were rich enough to purchase ability crystals could become ability users, while those who couldn't would simply remain as regular humans. Many rich families in the new world were able to obtain strong abilities for themselves and their children; the ones who would continue their lineage and glory once their parents are no more. In order to learn how to defend humanity from the invasion of the aliens, people from the ages of 16 were ordered to attend a military academy by the decree of the federal government of their respective countries. Failure to abide by this law was punishable by jail time. Kayden, a sixteen-year-old from a city known as Black Saber city. Having lost his parents at a very yoing age, he had to live with his single uncle and his cousin. Like many other teenagers his age, he desired to attend military school to learn how to fight against the Shales. However, being unable to afford an ability, his dreams of becoming powerful seemed like they would be crushed, but that all changed the day he had been given a system that allows him to unlock monsters by completing quests. On his path to evolve, he must face multiple challenges, complete quests and go on missions just to grow in strength. For in the current world, only the strong are regarded, while the weak are cast aside and forgotten. That was the general rule, the rule that governed everything that happened. From a crystal, came a power that changed his life. Now, he must do whatever it takes to save the people he loves and cares about. He must make sure that he doesn't loose the people he cares about once more.

An Adventurer

Kayden wanted to head out on his own because he felt confident in his ability to move swiftly along the desert, while remaining undetected by the beasts roaming that particular area. He was hoping that he would be able to move to and fro from the town to the area where he would be hunting the beasts stated on the map.

However, after being spotted by a random beast, it wasn't long until a whole horde, comprising of over thirty beasts, began giving chase as well. Kayden had no other option than to channel more Mana into his legs, giving them more power to run faster than he usually would. He hoped it was enough, but after a stinger from a Scorpanion had missed him by mere inches, he proceeded to channel more Mana as possible into his legs.

The beasts seemed uninterested in giving up anytime soon. Kayden had been running for quite a long time now, but it seemed like they were not going to let him be. Up ahead, he could see the habitat where the other beasts resided. He had basically ran across the desert at this point, but still, it seemed as though these beasts would follow him into the grassy terrain as well.

He hoped that they would eventually give up upon realizing that they were leaving their natural habitat, but it seemed as though they didn't care, following him into the large grasslands. Flying in the air, was a beast that resembled dragons from Earth. Opening it mouth wide, a vortex of flames came out, burning through the grass before it quickly turned into a forest fire, burning everything in its path.

Kayden was quick enough to avoid the flames. However, at this point, he was beginning to realize that he was already running low on Mana. He had been running at a rapid speed for a while now, and his Mana had also been working overtime in healing whatever strain his body would generate from overexerting himself while trying to escape from the predators.

The other beasts ran across the area, slicing down trees, shrubs, and even demolishing caves in search of the Werewolf. Meanwhile, Kayden was pushing himself to his limit in order to save himself. His heart was beating faster than it usually would. Faced with the current situation, he could feel his body shaking aggressively as he began to huff and pant excessively.

His eyes began to shudder, and his teeth clenched. He could feel his will slipping away, giving way to something far more primal. He released a howl, causing the other beasts to roar in response. The collective noise caused the ground to vibrate violently. But not only that, other beasts in the area where alerted of their presence as well.

Seeing a canopy of trees up ahead, he jumped as high as he could in the air, grasping onto a branch before quickly jumping towards another tree. He would go on to repeat this motion until he had reached the end of the forest. His Mana was reaching rock bottom, and it looked like he had no means of escaping what he had put himself into.

As one of the Scorpanions inches closer towards him, a bolt of lightning suddenly struck its stinger, separating it from its body while causing it to shriek in pain. The creature was panicked and dishevelled from the attack, causing it to behave frantically as it ran in all sorts of directions.

"Look at me!" a voice yelled, followed by a large flash of lightning from the sky. As the bright white light disappeared, what was left in its place was a man holding a weapon in his hands. He wore dark clothing and a pair of sunglasses. His curly blonde hair fell in all manners of places as he charged another attack.

The man shot his hands out, releasing another large beam of lightning heading straight for the beast horde. The attack clashed with them directly, producing a colossal explosion that pushed back trees and rocks alike. Even causing the ground beneath to crumble and fall.

Looking up, he then charged another attack and aimed at towards the beasts in the sky. Of course, the creatures charged attacks of their own in their mouths, aiming them at the man below. As the two attacks collided, there was a clear winner, as the lightning broke through the flames, and met the creatures in the sky, creating another massive explosion.

Kayden had run out of Mana. His transformation was cancelled, and his body was exhausted and heavily strained. With not much energy left to even walk, he leaned up against a tree awaiting his early demise. However, after a while, he soon realized that none of the beasts had made it to him. He was weak and vulnerable, so where could they possibly be.

Curious, he didn't have the energy to even move from his spot. It would take sometime before he recovers even a bit of his strength. For now, all he could do was stare up at the purple sky, admiring the scenery before him. His life was in danger, but that didn't stop him from basking in the beauty of the nature all around him.

The forest fire created by the flying beasts had spread quickly. However, since Kayden was a lot closer to the other side of the forest, it took a while before the smoke and flames caught his senses. He forced himself to get back up his feet before running further away from the encroaching flames.

The strange man then decided to deal with the other beasts in the are as well. Using his Fire Class ability, he made quick work of the beasts before harvesting their Mana cores as well. Once he felt like he was satisfied with the number of cores he had managed to gather, he suddenly remembered the creature that was being chased by these beasts in the first place.

'In all my years of being an adventurer, I have never come across a beast that looks quite like that one. I wonder what Grade crystal it will drop once I kill it?' the adventurer thought to himself.

Following the trail left behind, he did his best to avoid the flames as he ran further into the forest. Beasts of all shapes and sizes could be seen running away from the forest floor while those which could fly did what they could to escape from above. Meanwhile, the adventurer was looking for where the white-furred beast had sprinted off to.

Kayden had barely recovered his Mana back. He was only able to run at a normal pace like. typical human, while trying to avoid the flames quickly spreading across the trees and shrubs. He covered his face as a tree ahead if him had called along his path, the intensity of the flames causing him to growl in pain.

It was at this point that he began to regret his decision of heading out so soon in the first place on his own. If only he had chose to stay back with the others instead, then he wouldn't be where he was now. He remembered how that serpent had nearly killed him, and how a horde of beasts were after his life after being spotted.

He looked in every possible direction he could've taken, only to see that they were covered by the scorching flames that were slowly closing in on him. The heat was rising. His body temperature was shooting up. And, he wasn't sure when this simulation would finally come to an end.

From behind him, a trail of lightning blitzed past him, causing the fallen tree in front of him to explode upon impact. Turning his head, he noticed that there was a man he hadn't seen before walking towards him. Seeing the smile on his face, and what he had just done, Kayden was thinking more about his ability until he realized who this person was.

"You... you're the guy who saved me and my classmates from that beast!" he yelled in shock. He was more than glad to see that this man was here to hunt down the beasts which were giving him trouble moments back. Not waiting for a reply, he ran forward towards the space on the path, allowing him to make it to the other side unscathed.

'What is that kid doing out here in the open like that?' the man wonndered, following closely behind him. He was interested in finding out what business someone like him had with the beasts he had slain. That was, if there was even a connection between the two in the first place. He couldn't be sure about anything until he has to talk to him. Kayden had made it out of the forest, and was in the open once more. However, standing before him on all fours, was a dog. But, this was no ordinary dog, as it was one that had five heads and glowing red eyes.
