Chapter 1: Beginning Of The End

7-year-old Kaito Yoshiori, a blond brown haired kid with brown oval eyes, he had a black leather jacket, and he was laying on his bed reading a book called *The Vanished Child*, it had a colorful orange front cover, Kaito was smiling while he was reading it. Next to his bed was a candy jar, and he grabbed a candy, unwrapped it and ate it. Kaito's bedroom door, but it opened, and Kaito's little sister, Mio entered the room and she was a bit younger than Kaito, she was 5. She was wearing a pink sweater. Mio walked up to Kaito looking at him. 

Mio - "Watcha doin' Kaito?"

She says in a bored but happy tone as she looked at what Kaito was doing, she was now at Kaito's side. 

Kaito - "Just reading this book that dad bought me."

Kaito was still smiling because he was really enjoying the book and he also wanted his little sister to leave him alone with his book. Mio rolled her eyes and she looks at Kaito annoyed.

Mio - "pffts Boring..."

Mio's eyes light up as she sees the candy, and she approaches her hands to the candy. 

Mio - "OOH, CANDY!!"

Mio unwraps a candy and eats it, she chews it, and she wipes her hands together. Mio walks out of the room, and she waves bye to her brother

Mio - "Bye..."

Kaito looks back at her sister, and he looks at her worried and sad. 

Kaito - "Hey, are you okay...? You know... about big brother"

Mio looks down and tears form in her eyes, she sniffs. 

Mio - "Ever since he disappeared... it feels like... mom and dad have been acting more sympathetic and generous, they always have a smile on their faces... but, last night, I saw mom and dad crying in their bedroom, and they were talking about how much they missed him. Hey Kaito?"

Kaito started tearing up too and he looks at Mio sadly 

Kaito - "W- What?"

Mio looks at Kaito with hope in her eyes, but she still looked very sad.

Mio- "Do you think... Do you think that there's a chance that he's still alive out there?"

Kaito didn't believe that his big brother was still alive considering he disappeared a couple of months ago, and if he was still alive, he would've come back home, but he didn't want to make it worse. 

Kaito - "I hope... but there's a slim chance..."

Mio realizes that she will probably never see her big brother ever again and that he's probably dead. In the distance, their mom, Maria, call them. 

Maria - "Kids! Dinner's ready! Come quick before it gets cold!"

Mio wipes her tears away and she walks away. 

Mio - "Let's go..."

Kaito wipes his tears, he closes his book, and he walks out of his room into the kitchen. Their mom, Maria, had black hair and a blue overall with a brown shirt under it. Mio and Kaito walk in the kitchen and they see a plate with sushi on them, Mio and Kaito sit down on a chair, take their chopsticks and eat the sushi. 

Kaito - "This is really good mom! Thanks." 

Maria smiles as she looks at Kaito, she chuckles slightly. 

Maria - "No problem, but remember, it's only sushi one time a month so savor it."

Maria looks at Mio while she was smiling, Mio looks at her mom confused and curiously. 

Mio - "Where's dad?"

Kaito was devouring his sushi since it was his favourite food, Maria looked at the door as she was washing the dishes. 

Maria - "He went to the book store."

As she finished her sentence, she smiled. Kaito started choking on his sushi in excitement, and he looks at his mom so happy. 

Kaito - "To the bookstore!? Is he buying me a new book?!"

Maria nodded while smiling 

Maria - "Mhm! He saw on the daily journal that your favorite author Kaori Abe released a new book so he directly thought of you."

Mio sighed and she looked at her mother annoyed.

Mio - "What about me? Did he buy me anything?"

Maria looks at Mio and she nods, Maria walks to the table and she sits down on the chair.

Maria - "She bought you a doll."

Mio laughs and then she looks at Kaito mockingly

Mio - "Mine is more exciting than yours!"

She says in a mocking tone.

Kaito finished his plate of sushi, he got up and put his plate in the dishwasher, then he washed his hands.

Kaito - "It's more exciting for you but i love books."

Suddenly, the front door knocks and Kaito dries his hands with a towel, Maria gets up and walks to the door.

Mio - "Is it dad?"

Kaito looks at the door curious.

Kaito - "I think so…"

Maria had a plate in her hand and she opened the door, her eyes widen in sadness and fear and she drops the plate on the floor and it breaks. She lets out a gut-wrenching scream and she puts her hand on her mouth.

There was a Aswong with blood on his mouth, he was not smiling, he had a cold glare. He was carrying the father's head by the hair, his head was decapitated and a huge amount of blood was falling to the ground because of the decapitated neck.

Mio and Kaito walk up to the door to see what was happening and when they saw that, they started breathing intensely and their eyes were wide. They both formed tears into their eyes and bursted out crying, the Aswong looks at them and he drops the head and the head crashes down to the floor leaving a puddle of blood under. He had blood on his mouth so it seemed that he ate the father's body. He unleashed his Kagitsume from his back (a Kagitsume is a supplementary organ that comes out of their back that Aswongs have that is used as a weapon to kill. He had a Furinkagitsume which is covered in leaves and floral patterns, with a breeze following its movements. It has a serene and natural aesthetic. It also has a very spiky point that can easily pierce into a bone)

Maria looks at Mio and Kaito with tears in her eyes that were dripping to her cheeks.

Maria - "run… please…"

Kaito looked at his father's head on the ground and her mother crying. Mio grabs Kaito by the wrist and Mio looked absolutely terrified and sad.

Mio - "let's go…"

Kaito looks back at their mother and Maria nods while looking at both of them with a slight smile of reassurance even though she was dead inside and it was visible.

Kaito and Mio run into Kaito's room in which there is a window so they can escape. In the distance, they hear a pain and loud scream and a liquid pouring to the ground which was presumably blood. Kaito opens the small window and he looks at Mio with wide eyes full of trauma and a bunch of tears falling down his cheeks.

Kaito - "Go"

Mio hugs Kaito and she jumps into the hole of the window and she exits the house by the window, she looks at Kaito through the window and she says while whispering.

Mio - "Your turn"

Kaito jumps into the window but the Aswong enters the room and he walks towards Kaito.

Aswong - "Oh no, you don't!"

The Aswong grabs Kaito by the leg trying to get him out of the window.

Mio looked at Kaito terrified and in shock without the idea of what to do.

Aswong - "Come back here!!"

Mio - "Come here!"

Mio's voice was shaking in fear, she grabbed Kaito's arms trying to pull him towards her but the Aswong was too strong. The Aswong pierced Kaito's arm which caused his arm to bleed a lot and blood dripped everywhere on the floor. Kaito couldn't bare the pain so he let go of what he was holding and the Aswong pulled him towards him and he grabbed Kaito by the neck wanting to choke him. Mio looked at the scene in horror without knowing what to do, a bunch of tears were falling down her cheek.

Mio - « KAITO!!! »

A young man who was about 24 years old who had some tainted glasses, a straight hair cut with gel and a black suit with a white collar and a red tie was walking on the sidewalk and he had 2 swords at his back attached by a bag. He continued walking but then, he smelt blood in the distance, but not just a little, a whole liter.

He unsheathed his 2 black swords that can camouflage in a dark room. He ran towards the blood and he saw a house with the entrance full of blood, a decapitated head on the front carpet and a bloodied corpse in the house. He ran into the house and examined the head, it had Aswong saliva on the neck so this had to be an Aswong attack. He hears a scream from inside the house.

Kaito - « HELP!!! »

The man's eyes widen and he runs towards the voice, he enters the room and he sees an Aswong strangling Kaito and Mio was outside of the window watching in horror when she saw the man.

Mio - « HELP, MISTER, PLEASE!! MY BROTHER'S GONNA DIE!! »

The man swings his swords at the Aswong's arms which causes them to fall to the ground which sets Kaito free and he was struggling to breath. The Aswong looked at the man with a cold stare and the man too. The Aswong's arms quickly regenerate and he kicks the man away with his feet. The man gets sent into a wall violently and he starts bleeding from the forehead but he doesn't give up. He grabs his sword tightly and he gets in a attacking stance.

Man 's Mind - « If i want to defeat him, i'll have to slice his neck. »

The Man runs towards the Aswong, the Aswong tries to slash the Man with his Kagitsume but the Man dodges it all.

The Aswong strikes the Man's head but the Man does a barrel roll and he tries to strike the Man's feet but he does a front flip.

Aswong - « You're making this worse on yourself »

The Man jumped on the Aswong and he raised his sword in the air.

Man - « No, you are. »

The man slices the Aswong's head off and the Aswong dies. Man looks at Kaito and Mio worried and with grief.

Man - « Are you guys okay? »

Mio and Kaito were crying but they were grateful for what the Man did to them.

Mio - « thank you, mister… »

Kaito - « you saved my life, if it wasn't for you… »

Kaito bursts out crying again and the Man looks at him sadly. Mio looks at the Man.

Mio - « What is your name, sir? »

Aoki - « I'm Aoki Kishugoyo, Senior Guardian from the APA, Aswong Protection Agency, it is my duty to protect you from these nasty creatures.

Kaito runs towards Aoki and hugs him sadly.

Kaito - « Thank you so much sir… »

Aoki nods and he looks down to Kaito in grief.

Aoki - « Im sorry for your parents »

Kaito looks up to Aoki in trauma and he stops hugging Aoki, Kaito walks in the kitchen and he sees his mother's corpse. Kaito falls to his knees and tears come crashing down his face, he says in a quiet voice of despair.

Kaito - « mom… dad…  Mio's all i got… Mio's all i got…»
