Chapter 2: Hikoto

18 year old Kaito Yoshiori and 16 year old Mio Yoshiori were standing in a graveyard in front of two tombs, one that said « Maria Yoshiori » and the other said « Hiroshi Yoshiori ». Kaito was about 6'0 feet tall and Mio was about 5'5 feet tall, Kaito had a black suit and Mio had a white shirt with a black jacket. Kaito looked at Mio with his hands in his pockets

Kaito - « Let's go, Mio. »

Mio nodded and Kaito and her walked away, they walked through the streets and they see a homeless person on the floor with a jar with some yens in it. The homeless had a hoodie and he had his hood on and a long white beard, he looked minimum 60. He had a bunch of dirt splashed on his face. The Homeless Man lifted his jar towards Kaito and Mio demanding for money. He was also lifting a beer that he drank.

Homeless Man - « Please, give me a little money, i have 2 children that i can barely feed and we live in constant fear of getting devoured by the Aswongs. Please, help me. »

Kaito turns to the Homeless Man and he smiles slightly and gently, Mio looks at the Homeless Man with kindness. Kaito searches something in his pockets and he takes out a bill of 1000 yen and he puts it in the jar.

Kaito - « Here you go, sir. I wish you luck. »

The Homeless Man smiles peacefully and he gently touches Kaito's hand with his hand.

Homeless Man - « God bless you! Both of you! I wish you a happy life! »

Kaito nods and smiles at the Homeless Man.

Kaito - « You too. »

Kaito and Mio walk away and they arrived at the train station waiting for their train to arrive to get to their apartment.

The Homeless Man was still sitting on the floor waiting for someone to give him more money. It was an empty street and it had rusted buildings and it was almost a hood. Near the Homeless Man was a dark alley and from the dark alley, Homeless Man heard a can rolling on the floor. He got up and walked towards the alley hoping for someone to pass by so they can give him a little money. He entered the alley but there was not a living soul.

Homeless Man - « Hello? Is someone there? »

He continued looking around for someone but there was nobody except… behind the Homeless Man, there was a dark figure that was covered up by a shadow, it had glowing red eyes and a Kagitsume got out of its back.

Homeless Man turned around and he saw the Aswong nicknamed Shadow.

Homeless Man - « AHH »

The Aswong had a kagitsume that was barely visible, it isnt like the Furinkagitsume that was beautiful to see, this type was almost invisible.

Shadow slashes his Kagitsume to the Homeless Man's chest and he hits it, blood splatters in the air, on the walls and on the ground. Shadow grabbed Homeless Man and put him on his shoulder.

Shadow - « This one should do for Master Black Reaper »

Kaito and Mio entered their apartment and Kaito walked in the kitchen and opened the fridge.

Kaito - « Want something to eat, Mio? »

Mio walked into her room and she took off her jacket.

Mio - « Let's eat noodles. »

Kaito looks inside the fridge and he sees the noodles sitting in the corner of the fridge.

Kaito - « Noodles it is! »

He grabs the noodles and prepares them, he puts the boiling water in the cup noodles and he waits. Kaito walks into the living room and turns on the TV and he puts the channel NHK. There was a journalist standing in front of the dark alley where the Homeless Man got slaughtered.

Journalist - « Today near 1pm, a Man has been slaughtered in an alley, presumably by an Aswong. this Man was Takashi Saito, a former Commander from the APA who was close to finding out where the Black Reaper is located. However, he got fired because, one of his main projects backfired and killed 3 of his companions. He was a 63 year old father with 2 kids but his wife is unknown. The body was not found yet and we believe that one of the Black Reaper's Aswongs participated in this act of crime. »

Kaito's eyes widen as he gets 2 important information, the Homeless Man from earlier got slaughtered by an Aswong and the Black Reaper is in the 17th Ward, Shibuya. That was where Kaito and Mio were living. Kaito's eyes were shaking and he grit his teeth in rage. Kaito whispers to himself,

Kaito - « I'm gonna kill all those sons of bitches who terrorise the human world, so no one will ever lose someone close to them ever again by some hungry assholes… even if i die trying. »

Kaito tights his fists very VERY tightly as he thinks about all those children who lost their parents, thinking with experience. The cup noodles were ready and when they finished, it made a beeping sound to indicate that they were finished.

*BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP*

Kaito didnt react because he was lost in thought but Mio heard it and she walked out of her room and looked at Kaito worried.

Mio - « Uhh… Kaito? The noodles are done. »

Kaito cuts out of his imagination and he looks back at the cup noodles and he opens his hands and his nails penetrated through his skin which caused him to bleed a little.

Kaito grabs the 2 cup noodles and he puts them on the table.

Shadow arrived in a sort of a long castle room and at the end of the room, was a throne and a man was sitting on it. There were skeleton heads next to the throne, but the man on the throne was covered by a dark shadow. Shadow had Takashi Saito in his arms (A.K.A Homeless Man). He was walking towards the throne. Shadow had black pointy hair and pale skin, he was wearing a sleek black outfit and dark jeans. Shadow went to his knees and bowed down to the man on the throne.

Shadow - « Master Black Reaper, i've killed Takashi Saito. No one can longer find out anything about you till the next decade at least. »

Black Reaper gets up from his seat and he walks towards him, the shadow clears out and we see that he's wearing a plague mask and a black hoodie with the hood on. Black Reaper was right next to Shadow and Black Reaper pat him on the head.

Black Reaper - « Thank you, Saiko. You might just get a spot in the Night Circles. »

Hiroshi (A.K.A Shadow) looks up at Black Reaper and his eyes lit up and he cracks a little grin but he removes it immediately cause it might be a disrespect for Master Black Reaper. Hiroshi looks back down at the floor.

Hiroshi - « Thank you, sir. »

Black Reaper - « You can go now. »

Hiroshi gets up and he puts the body on the floor and dashes away at superspeed.

It was morning and the sun was rising, Kaito was asleep in his blue and white bed, Mio entered the room in her sailor uniform. Mio walked up to Kaito and she shaked him. She whispered,

Mio - « Kaito! Wake up! You gotta take me to school! »

Kaito groans and yawns while wiping his eyes. He touches his alarm to see what hour it is. It was 7am

Kaito - « 5 minutes, please. »

Mio - « No! Im gonna be late! »

Kaito - « Fine. »

Kaito gets up and puts his gakuran uniform on, he takes his car keys and he leaves his apartment, and he enters his Toyota Corolla. Mio entered the car aswell. Mio looked at Kaito greatful

Mio - « Hey, thank you for bringing me. »

Kaito nods as he started driving.

Kaito - « No problem »

Kaito and Mio arrive at Mio's school, Hikarizora HighSchool. Mio opens the car door and he waves bye at Kaito.

Mio - « Bye Kaito! »

Kaito - « Bye! »

Kaito was waving at Mio and then he drove away, he finally arrived at his university called Seiran University. He parks his car and he walks in the school trying to find his friend,

Kaito saw his best friend Hikoto in the distance so Kaito walked towards him but, a bully, Harato Ishikawa, pushed Kaito onto a locker.

Harato - « Hey, punk! Whata you doin' here?! I thought i told you to stay out of this school!»

Kaito looked at Harato kinda scared, Hikoto saw what Harato was doing to Kaito.

A drawing slipped out of Kaito's bag and Harato picked it up with a menacing smile. He stared at it for a couple seconds, the drawing was a man that was flying. Harato looked at Kaito curiously.

Harato- « You drew this? »

Kaito nods.

Kaito - « Yes. »

Harato rips the paper in pieces and he throws the pieces onto Kaito.

Harato - Here's an idea for you, Jump off a building and see if you can fly.

Kaito's eyes widen as he sees Harato looking at him with a menacing grin as he just implied suicide. Out of nowhere, Hikoto runs towards them and he punches Harato right in the face.

Hikoto - « Here's a little recommandation, dickhead, dont ever touch, Kaito. »

Harato touched his face where Hikoto punched it in pain.

Harato - « YOU FUCKING BASTARD!! »

Harato tries to punch Hikoto in the face but Hikoto dodges it and he kicks Harato in the balls. Harato grabs his balls in pain and falls to his knees.

Harato - *GAHHH*

Hikoto kicks Harato in the face which makes blood fly out of his nose and mouth. Harato falls to the ground and Hikoto punches him 10 more times which makes Harato's face look like a bloody pulp. Hikoto gets back up and he looks back at Kaito.

Hikoto - « Let's go. »

Hikoto has a warm and welcoming smile that lights up his face. He sports messy, brown hair and has friendly, expressive brown eyes. He's of average height with a friendly and open demeanor. Hikoto often wears casual attire, like a comfortable hoodie or a graphic T-shirt.

Kaito smiles at Hikoto.

Kaito - « Thank you, Hikoto. If it weren't for you, i would've looked like him. »

Hikoto - « Ah, no problem man, no one touches my best friend and makes threats of him. I don't think Harato will ever lend a hand on you ever again. »

Hikoto and Kaito chuckle and the bell rings and everyone goes in their classes. Luckily enough, Hikoto and Kaito were in the same History-Geography class and they sat together.

Professor Kazuhiko Tanaka is a distinguished figure with salt-and-pepper hair, neatly combed back. His sharp, rectangular glasses frame intelligent, observant eyes that seem to have absorbed a wealth of historical and geographical knowledge. He has a thin, well-groomed beard that adds an air of sophistication to his appearance.

Wearing a classic tweed jacket paired with a carefully chosen tie.

Professor Tanaka - « Good day, class. Today, we will delve into the enthralling topic of Napoleon Bonaparte. Brace yourselves for an exploration of military campaigns, treaties, and bureaucratic reforms that might just lull you into a state of academic bliss… »

Hikoto looks at Kaito bored.

Hikoto - « This is so boring. »

Kaito looks at Hikoto bored too.

Kaito - « I know right! »

A few hours later, the bell rings and its time to go home.

Hikoto and Kaito exited the school together and they laughed a little bit but Hikoto stopped.

Hikoto - « Yo, wanna go to the bar tonight? »

Kaito nods and he tilts his head.

Kaito - « Yeah, but i gotta pick up my sister. »

Hikoto - « Cool. We meet up at Spring Tavern, right?? »

Kaito nods again

Kaito - « Sure but like, what hour do we meet up? »

Hikoto gets on his bike since he didnt have his license, he puts his red and black helmet.

Hikoto - « Does 9 pm sound good? »

Kaito - « Ok. See you later. »

Kaito gets in his gray Toyota Corolla and he drives away to his sister's school. When he arrived to his sister's school, he sees Mio waiting on some stairs until she sees Kaito's car. Mio walks towards the car and she gets in it.

Mio - « Hey, Kaito »

Kaito looks at Mio with a slight smile

Kaito - « Hey, how was school? »

Mio « It was… boring, as usually, you?

Kaito looks at the wheel trying to think of something to say when he has a little flashback of Hikoto beating the shit out of Harato and he smiles at his sister.

Kaito - « It was awesome. »

Mio looked at Kaito curious and Kaito drives to the house.

Mio - « Kaito, can i please walk home now? I've waited for you for an hour today, it's like that everyday. »

Kaito sighs and he looks at his sister annoyed.

Kaito- « No! It's too dangerous, do you end up like!… »

Mio looks at Kaito curiously and confused.

Mio - « End up like… who?

Kaito - « Nevermind »

They drive to their house and Kaito takes his keys to open his apartment door and he opens it and puts the keys on the counter.

Kaito - « Tonight, i'm gonna hang out with Hikoto, so i count on you to behave. »

Mio rolls her eyes and walks into her bedroom and takes off her uniform.

Mio - « Ugh, you talk like dad »

Kaito's eyes widen as he remembers the moment when he first saw his decapitated dad's head and the blood dripping everywhere.

Kaito walks into the living room and turns on the TV and checks the clock. It was 6 PM, so he opened the fridge and took out a burger that he put in the microwave.

*BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP*

The burger was done microwaving so Kaito took it out and ate it.

Kaito - « Mmm »

The time was 8:30 pm so Kaito left his apartment.

Kaito - « Bye, Mio! »

Mio - « Bye! »

Kaito enters his car and drives to Spring Tavern, when he finally arrives there, he sees Hikoto next to his bike. Kaito gets out of his car and walks towards Hikoto. Hikoto looks at Kaito up and down. Hikoto says mockingly,

Hikoto - « Dang, i ride on bike and im earlier than you. »

Kaito sighs and then he chuckles and Hikoto chuckles too.

Kaito - « Shut up »

Kaito and Hikoto walk into Spring Tavern and they sit at the bar counter. Music was loud as fuck. A barman walk up to them and ask them,

Barman - « Hey guys, What you wanna drink? We got Tequila, Vodka and more. »

Hikoto and Kaito look at eachother and Hikoto says to the barman,

Hikoto - « We'll get 6 shots of Tequila, please. »

Barman - « Coming right up »

The Barman walks away to get the drinks. Hikoto and Kaito started talking.

A couple seconds later, the barman comes back with 6 shots of Tequila.

Kaito gets a shot and drinks it super quick, Kaito grimaces which makes Hikoto bursts out laughing.

Hikoto - « BAHAHA, LOOK AT YOUR UGLY ASS! »

Kaito chuckles and he shakes his head.

Kaito - « It's good but too hard »

Hikoto wipes his laughing tears away and he looks at Kaito.

Hikoto - « Sensitive ass… »

Kaito - « Show me how its done then »

Hikoto grabs a shot of Tequila and drinks it quickly and doesnt react. Kaito looks at Hikoto shocked.

Kaito - « HUH, HOW!! »

Hikoto chuckles and Kaito was still shocked.

A few hours later, Kaito and Hikoto were drunk and they left Spring Tavern, but they saw people taking drugs. Hikoto and Kaito look at them in disgust.

Kaito - « I can take alcohol but not drugs… »

Hikoto - « Saaaaame »

Kaito walks to where his car was but it wasn't there anymore. Kaito scratches his hair in confusion.

Kaito - « Huh? Where did my car go? »

He slaps himself to see if it was because he was too drunk but no, it was gone. Hikoto patted Kaito's shoulder and then walked away.

Kaito - « Good luck, see you… shit i forgot… »

Hikoto burps and rides away on his bike. Kaito was confused and kinda afraid that someone stole his car, why would anyone steal a Toyota Corolla? Kaito walks into an alley hoping to find it here but it wasnt there. Kaito walks further into the alley and suddenly, a black figure appears behind him and the figure had red glowing eyes. The figure was Shadow himself, Shadow walked up to him and Kaito turned around and saw him. Kaito screamed and he fell to the ground. Shadow chuckled as he walked slowly towards Kaito.

Shadow - « Weak human »

He takes Kaito by the collar and he bites into Kaito's shoulder. Kaito screamed in agony,

Kaito - « AHHH!!! »

The 6 people who were taking drugs heard the gut-wrenchinh scream from Kaito so they walked towards the alley, they took out their knives and they saw Shadow. The gang walked towards Shadow and they all took out their Glock-17's too.

Gang Member #1 - « Oy! Bastard! Get outta here before i blow your brains out.

They all point their guns at Shadow and he lets Kaito go. Kaito holds his bitten shoulder in pain and little did Kaito know that Shadow hit the organ that makes Kaito a human so with the venom that Shadow put in Kaito's organ…

Shadow looks at the 6 gang members

Shadow - « Do you know who i am? »

Gang Member #3 - « No! Do you know who we are?! »

Shadow - « Little sons of bitches who think they're tough. »

The Gang Members look at Shadow in rage and they all tighten their weapons and they grit their teeth. Kaito looks at the scene in horror

Kaito - « RUN!! »

The gang members all shoot on Shadow but Shadow doesnt feel a thing and the bullets break in two.

Kaito's Mind - *Its too late for them, if i dont run, there will be more deaths. »

Kaito gets up and runs away.

Shadow walks towards the gang members and he unleashes his Kagitsume and again, it is barely visible. The gang member's continue to shoot but Shadow slashes all of their heads off at once. All the gang members were dead and Shadow looked behind to see Kaito but he was gone.

Kaito was still running and he saw a bike in the distance and he stole it and rode away, he was terrified and in shock.

Kaito's Mind - *They're probably all dead… and shit, i just committed a crime. What will i tell Mio? »
