CHAPTER 17: CLASS

Riku spent the whole afternoon locked up in his room.

He rewatched the videos from the fights of the ranking tournament.

Riku was trying to find any openings he could. But the sheer reaction speeds and ingenuity of every combatant was outer worldly.

The more he watched the more frustrated he became.

The difficulty was simply too much to surpass.

Hours had passed and Riku had fallen asleep.

Riku was deep in his sleep dreaming.

Math equations floating within his subconscious. His mind overflowed until his eyes opened wide.

Riku jumped out of his bed, sitting down at his table.

He had to grab the idea while it was still fresh in his mind.

Riku hurriedly grabbed some blank paper and searched for a pen.

A few more hours had passed and Riku was busy in his room filling blank paper after paper with equations and line graphs. Periodically he would use his computer to research more equations, this continued until the sun had risen. When the sun came up Riku held a stack of papers filled with scribbles and equations

"This is it! my chance of actually winning."

Riku with dark bags under his eyes looked like a zombie. He was shocked when he looked outside the window and saw the sun already rising.

-

Riku was standing high on a pedestal in the center of the arena, his arms raised high.

The crowd roared louder and louder, the chart above the area read "Riku Sato Ranked number One"

Riku smiled and his face filled with a huge smile as the prize of twenty million dollars came rolling towards him in a wheelbarrow.

Riku stretched out his arms ready to hug the wheelbarrow filled with money.

The look of ecstasy on his face didn't deter the audience. Instead the crowd riled up even louder.

But just before the prize could reach him he felt as though he was being pulled further and further.

The audience that was cheering seemed to have silenced as his background fell into a deep darkness then suddenly the deep yellow eyes of a cobra seemed to have filled the darkness completely frightening Riku. He jumped out of his slumber.

When Riku opened his eyes and looked up, he was staring up through the barrel of an AK47. He jumped at the sound of her cocking the weapon, but even scarier was the demon holding the rifle.

Her sinister eyes and smile sent shutters down Riku's spin forcing his hairs to stand on end.

"Riku? you wouldn't happen to have been sleeping, in my class right?"

The rest of the class eerily turned around, and then looked up at the wall lined with the photograph of eleven students each picture having a red 'X' across it.

Riku understood this message as he glanced at the students he whispered

"N..No ma'am just praying".

Still holding her creepy smile she replied

"That's great, allow me to bring you closer to your God!"

like a kitten frightened Riku flew up to the roof as her AK sprayed his seat with bullet holes.

Riku dug his nails further into the ceiling as he clung for dear life.

After that incident Riku felt unexplainably well rested.

"Now, as I was saying. Today's math class is all about Geometrics.

The long range weapon users should have a natural intuition on this matter but today we will start from the basics…."

The class continued and despite the rough start with Riku but for the rest of the class he strictly complied with Miss Debeers.
