The Fallen Flame

"It is time, my son" Odin said mysteriously to his youngest son.

"What?" Aerion asked in confusion.

"Your time to be announced to the universe at large" Odin said to his now frowning son.

"Sorry to repeat myself but what?" Aerion said again, in pure confusion.

"When Thor and Loki met their majority they were announced to the universe at large at their respective feasts" Odin revealed to his still confused youngest son.

"Yes, but how? I mean only a couple thousand people will be there?" He asked his father, referencing the feast they were holding for his birthday.

Odin smirked, "Those people have been cherry picked, those that will spread the work to their own planet of Aerion Odinson."

Aerion blinked…huh.

"Now you have a tailor who will be here soon" Odin warned his son while looking over the absurd amount of mess in the boys room. "So clean up"

The feast was in full swing, the raucous laughter and drinking of the carefully picked young, talented and influential Asgardian Soldiers rang through the hall merrily.

Hundreds of different races were invited, they were all in high up positions within their respective planets and or empires.

Odin stood, he was in fine golden and white fabrics that clung to his muscled form like a second skin. The feast quickly silenced itself as the room paid full attention to the King of Asgard.

"Today is the day my son reaches his majority" Asgardian soldiers clapped and cheered but quickly quieted down "So for my youngest I give a title."

The room quietens as it waits in anticipation for the title to be given to the Prince.

Odin gestured for the boy to stand, Aerion did so and stood next to his father who still towered a few inches over the teenager.

Odin gestured for the boy to stand in front of him facing the crowd, Aerion did so feeling anticipation war within himself as he thought of all the possibilities.

"I anoint my son, as a general of the Asgardian army" the room filled with raucous, drunken cheers of the Asgardians and the polite clapping of the other races.

A black ruby encrusted circlet was then placed on his forehead, Odin subtly placed an enchantment on the teenager's hair that made it look like it was glowing subtly while floating mystically.

His wide burning yellow eyes settled on the cheering crowd.

He was possibly the youngest to ever have the role of general.

The soldiers were clearly excited, Thor nor Loki had never officially served within the army. Aerion would be the first God in a long while.

A couple of old grizzled Asgardians eyed the boy warily, they knew who the last God was to have an official position in the army.

Hela, Goddess of Death.

While the feast was in full effect Loki looked over to his younger brother, sat at Odin's right for this one time. "Brother, here is my gift to you" Lokis hand reached over Thor to hand his younger brother a scroll.

Aerions eyes studied the old tied scroll with confusion "No need to open it now brother the scroll is old so be gentle, it contains dozens of uses for dragon magic" Loki explained to Aerions now surprised form.

Aerions eyes were wide as he carefully placed the scroll into a small pile of gifts left in front of him. He turned to his brother "Thank you" he said genuinely to the dark haired man who nodded.

"I need another magic wielder, can't have you turning out 100% Thor can I?" He asked as they both looked at the feasting blonde God sat between them.

Aerion snorted and expressed his thanks once more before turning back to the food, Lokis had the most useful gift so far.

Thors wasn't far behind though.

He looked at the ring on his left hand, a ring made of Uru that had been blessed by Thor himself with the help of Odin.

It had small lightning covered runes covering its entire body that glowed a dark red when magic ran through the item.

He thought back to Thor's words with a small smirk "I'd heard you've delved into a little bit of lightning brother" Thor said as used all of his tremendous will power to ignore the food in front of him.

Aerion nodded.

"Well, I must admit I was surprised. But I worked on this" he said as he presented the ring to his younger brother "Took me a while but I eventually got used to the whole runes thing" he said with a grin as the silver uru rung fit snugly on Aerions left hand.

"What do the runes do?" He asked.

"Enhance lightning" Thor explained simply "It was blessed by myself, so it'll be better than most enchantments" he boasted.

Aerion was delving into the food gleefully, he had missed the grand feasts while he was on Earth. His eyes suddenly caught onto his fathers form tensing, his eyes narrowed as Loki also seemed to freeze for but a moment as his brother looked up the table towards their father.

Not a second later he heard a roar that shook the castle, not that of Lansseax. He had gotten used to that roar, he could tell it apart from any other by now.

The feast quietened as all eyes turned towards the direction of the roar, the main doors to the feast hall were clos-

The large ornate doors exploded inwards with a ear shattering bang, smoke billowed through the now open archway and eventually faded to reveal the form attacking the small planet of Asgard.

A giant.

It was almost as tall as the palace as it stood on burning buildings in the city below the palace and looked through the doors with its burning red eyes.

Aerion noticed little else as his eyes locked onto the red furred creature, its lanky arms reached down to its knees as fire rapidly spread throughout the city.

The ape like giant roared and smacked its hands together as fire coiled around it, suddenly the fire exploded causing devastation to the buildings under the giant.

So it makes sense when Thor stood with Mjölnir in his hands and seemed prepared to strike the giant down that he didn't notice Odin's gesture for the God of Thunder to wait.

Aerion could feel it in his bones as he looked at the creature.

Unimaginable hatred.

Something about the thing made him hate it on sight, how dare it wield fire.

How dare it invade his home.

The fire.

How dare this filthy creature use flame against his people.

That accursed flame!

The air shimmered and cracked around the furious Prince, his spear conjured in his hands and he gently hopped over the feasting table.

His eyes locked with the burning orange eyes of the creature in fury as his flame charged within him.

He tensed every muscle in his body as he pushed off the floor below towards the creature with all the strength he could muster.

The ground cracked beneath him as to most of the eyes in the hall he just disappeared, Asgardian soldiers saw him as a Blur as flame trailed his body.

His body flew through the air unrestricted as the flame the giant had been spewing onto the city below were all quickly sucked towards and absorbed into the glowing spear.

He was recreating his final attack against Lansseax.

So he used every bit of fire the giant had used against his people and then added his own divine flame into the mix.

The spear grew heavier by the millisecond as fire flooded and condensed within the instrument of war.

It's spear tip seemed to be bending the fabric of reality with an odd distorting effect of the flame.

As soon he got within a kilometre of the giant he swung his spear diagonally through the air, the cracking roiling energy in the spear quickly releasing via the form of a large arc of glowing red fire.

Said arc sliced through the sound barrier with an ear shattering crack, its deadly hissing form instantly slicing into the red fire giant.

The red furred giant fell to the floor, its body almost severed into two.

Aerion seemed to hang in the air, his platinum hair subtly glowing and floating, the ruby encrusted circlet glowing in the sunlight and his blood red cape flapping in the winds.

He made a sight fit for a God.
