Ambush (3)

The Green Valley Sect is currently sleeping. At least most of the team, Adonis, was awake.

He is lying next to Lena; she is cuddling into his chest. He put on a satisfied smile at this and resumed thinking about tomorrow.

Tomorrow, they will have to fight the Heaven Sword Sect. He knew they had 7 Ascent Stage cultivators on their team; most likely, he would be facing off against a couple of them.

'Tomorrow is the day that I show my full strength!'

With his new skills and raising his cultivation to Refinement Stage 3-Spark, he is confident he will be on par with an Ascent cultivator. He became excited at the thought of fighting the next day.

'Crap, I can't fall asleep.'

Adonis needed to rest but was too excited.

'I thought Lena would've sapped all my energy away.'

Note that Adonis and Lena are currently naked.

'Maybe I should go into my Soul Domain and train enough to make me fall asleep.'

Adonis smoothly got out of Lena's embrace and stood up; he wore his robes and was about to enter his Soul Domain' but stopped.

He felt a feeling he never felt before, like foreboding. He didn't know why, but it was intense. He couldn't sense anything, but that made him feel worse. Adonis couldn't even think straight; he started sweating, breathing heavily, and his instincts took over.

Due to his panic, he used both of his slivers of Anima to enter his eyes and used Existence Vision. Outside his room, there were four visages, each of them in front of a different door.

A minute earlier,

Diego and the other three disciples agreed to Byron's offer. Although they hated Byron, the swords were too tempting not to accept them, especially since they all come from humble backgrounds.

They were surprised when Byron wanted them to kill the four strongest disciples of the Green Valley team, their next opponent. They wondered why he wanted them gone and could only think that he had a grudge against one of them.

They were half-right as Byron wanted Adonis dead; due to his sudden increase in strength and all the secrets behind it.

They didn't feel good about doing this, especially since they would rather have a fair fight between sects, but they considered the weapons more valuable. They all wore heavy cloaks that obscured their identities and used high-grade artifacts that made them invisible.

They bribed one of the employees in the hotel to tell them their specific rooms and to distract the Sect Leader and Elder of the group.

They made it to the floor they were on; they stood in front of the rooms the strongest Green Valley Disciples were in.

Diego sighed and tried to focus on the upsides of the situation; he looked at his teammates and nodded his head. The others showed they were ready; they would break down the doors, quickly kill the people inside, and make a fast escape.

Right before they would break the doors, the right-most door suddenly swung open, and the last thing the disciple in front of it saw was the bright light of a flame.

Diego and his teammates were shocked and stood, stunned. Adonis dashed out of his room, created Ifrit's Sword, and ran full speed toward the nearest assailant.

The assailant near Adonis was able to react in time by using an attack to block Adonis, Adonis staggered back and got his footing, and the assailant immediately charged in for the kill; Adonis knew he needed to catch them off-guard to have a chance at killing them.

With instincts taking over, Adonis used Raiju's Leap despite the consequences and disappeared in a flash of light. The assailant was shocked by Adonis's speed, and before he knew it, the world turned upside down for him.

Adonis had cut the assailant in half; this time, Adonis needed to block as a fast wind slash came his way. Adonis was blown to the end of the hallway, and Ifrit's Sword wavered.

The last of Diego's teammates went in at full speed to kill Adonis. Adonis exploded the wavered Ifrit's Sword, and a powerful blast hit the assailant. They were able to block it but were stopped momentarily.

This gave enough time for Diego to sense two powerful beings' fastly approaching the floor they were on.

'SHIT!! THEIR SECT LEADER AND ELDER ARE COMING!!!'

"FORGET ABOUT HIM; GRAB OUR TEAMMATES, AND LET'S GO!!!"

Diego's teammate was surprised by his sudden command, but he won't question him, especially in this situation.

Diego grabbed the split corpse, and his teammate grabbed the headless one. They ran toward the other end of the hall, planning to break the wall and jump from building to building to escape.

'DON'T THINK YOU CAN RUN!!!'

Adonis was going to use Raiju's Leap to catch up to them, but he then felt his Demon corrupting his mind. He decided to use his three Heavenly-Stars Ki and a bit of lightning to chase after them.

However, Diego sensed this and sent a Mana slash at him. Adonis barely reacted in time to the high-speed attack and narrowly tilted his body enough so that only his left shoulder was cut open. This stalled Adonis's advance, and he thought they would get away.

Five rapid disks of wind flew by him and caught up to the assailants. Diego's teammate couldn't react to the attack in time, and the Aero Disks ripped through his body, the last one piercing his heart. Adonis turned around to see Lena with a blanket wrapped over her body, she noticed the lack of warmth in bed, woke up to Adonis opening the door, and killing someone behind it. After that, it took her a few seconds to process what happened before she sprung into action.

Diego saw this and quickly grabbed his last teammate's body, he had to quickly get through the wall or he will die along with them. He activated his 5-star strength ki, and quickly bursted the wall and landed on top of the next building over, he then jumped from building to building quickly.

When Diego bursted through the wall, Juniper and Mila came out of their rooms after they heard all of the commotion. Lena yelled, "PEOPLE WERE TRYING TO KILL US IN OUR SLEEP, THEY'RE RUNNING AWAY!!!"

Mila and Juniper reacted quickly to those words; Juniper used Aqueous Trident and imbued it with Lust energy, Mila used Nail Bullets and added a rotational spin to all of them. They both launched their spells right at their assailants.

They didn't know if there spells hit or not; the only thing they could do was pray. Right now, that wasn't the most important thing.

Adonis's shoulder wound was deep, it almost severed his arm off and a lot of blood continuously poured out of it. The Sect Leader and Elder reached their floor and the other disciples opened their doors to see what had happened.

Seeing the damages around them and the injured Adonis, it didn't take a genius to figure out they had been attacked.
