Chapter 34: Black file

"Welcome back, Master Ryan." The old man said in a respectful tone.

"Albert, I didn't expect that you would come here today." Ryan said with a smile.

While Ryan was happy after his reunion with Albert, the others were surprised to see Albert, the mad rabbit bowing to someone, that was something they would never see even in their dreams, yet now that very man was bowing to someone younger than him.

"How can I not come to witness your fight?" Albert lifted his body up and looked at Ryan.

He then looked at the people from the media holding cameras. He said in an arrogant tone "I would like to introduce my master, the guild master of the Chandra guild."

The representatives felt their blood go cold after hearing that the number one guild belonged to the son of John Miller, who is known for his ruthless nature.

If Night Owl was night then the Chandra guild was the light that shone upon the world during the night. Two powerful guilds owned by a father and son.

People always wondered why the Chandra guild never revealed their leader and only Albert was known as the highest ranking official.

You guys must be wondering why all of this at the same time, right?

Everything here was determined by Ryan except the arrival of Albert who was supposed to reveal the identity of the guild leader after they had a meeting. Everything here for the show of power.

People on Earth should've stuck together to hold their ground against the monsters but they were forming guilds which were controlled by people who were so arrogant that they didn't focus on the danger that lay ahead, only indulging in desires which will bear no fruit for the world itself.

They are not fighting against a common enemy, they are fighting against each other. They want to be supreme but they don't realise that standing at the top of the world will not save them from the destruction approaching them.

"Albert, please take care of the paperwork and deliver that Guardian ID." He held Rebecca's hand and started walking off with her.

"Mr. Ryan, please think about my offer. I am from the Red Hawk guild." A representative said believing that the name of his guild would make Ryan want to have a friendly relationship with them.

Ryan stopped in his place and gave Rebecca a loving smile. He then turned around and said in a menacing tone "I have no intention of playing house with your guild leader or any guild leader who thinks they are some kind of ruler. When they are just an insignificant speck of dust in an insignificant planet which is floating in the infinite void."

Ryan left the room after giving them a disdainful look.

After leaving the association hall they sat in the car and Rebecca burst out with questions.

Ryan had to answer multiple questions until they reached their home.

After a "long" ride Ryan got out of the car shaking his head after looking at that statue.

"So embarrassing." He spoke out loud.

"Mom wanted it so we asked for it and dad agreed. Simple." Rebecca said while rubbing her nose in pride.

"Thank you, I guess." He went inside his home with Rebecca by his side.

"The guards looked scared, did you do something to them yesterday?" Rebecca asked as they stood in from the door.

"Nothing much, just some bad dreams." Ryan said as Emma opened the door for them.

"You guys are back early, nice! Your dad called you to his office." Emma said while looking at Ryan.

"Now?" Ryan asked in a calm tone.

"Yes, he says he has something important for you to do." Emma ruffled Ryan's hair.

"And take this with you." Emma gave Ryan a black file.

"Mom, can you cook some salmon? I'll be back in a few hours." He said before turning and flying off with a bang.

"He can fly?" Emma looked at Rebecca who was just as surprised.

"Looks like it." She took her inside while Emma still looked at the disappearing figure of Ryan.

Ryan reached the Night owl guild in a few minutes. He flew near a window and knocked on it and waved at the people inside.

John glanced at him and smirked, he pressed a button which lifted up the glass window. Ryan entered and tossed the black file to John.

"So what do you want me to do?" Ryan pulled an empty chair and sat on it. He ignored the people who were looking at him, surprised to see a man flying without any aid from mana.

"Guys meet my Son, you must have seen him in the news an hour ago." John said with a prideful expression.

Ryan gave a friendly smile to the ladies who were looking at him and said "I go by the name Ryan and-"

Ryan disappeared from his position and picked a man sitting two seats away from him.

He took him to the open window while holding him up with his collar.

"I don't like when scum thinks he can hide from me." Ryan charred the man with a burst of blue flames.

Ryan dropped the body of the man which shrunk after he died. A tail appeared while his ears became pointy.

He turned around and said with a wicked smile "I assume you want to kill those scums pretending to be human." He said as a [BOA] penetrated a woman's forehead.

She screamed in pain as her brain completely melted down.

"Ella!" A man started shedding tears because his wife was killed by Ryan.

"They would have died in a few days either way." Ryan said in a calm tone.

"Why do you think so?" John was genuinely confused.

"Their bodies were like a container with fire and water. Both elements will try to subdue each other, ending with one or the other winning." Ryan looked at the molten body of the woman named 'Ella'

"Their human blood was trying to fight the conversion but the other substance or aura was stronger but without the human part the other one cannot survive. Quite interesting." Ryan removed the molten body from the floor.

"They can be cured." Ryan said while looking at John.

"Can you cure them?" John was surprised again.

"No, who said I can cure them? For them to return to normal we need to kill the source, the being who turned them."

"They are all buts and ifs, I am not sure, or worse, all of them will die if we kill the turner." Ryan said with a smile.

"How will you find it?" John asked in a serious tone.

"We will not find it, that thing will come to find us or should I say his minions." Ryan's eyes shone bright silver.

"And when it comes, I'll find its friends and kill them too." Ryan cracked his neck.

"I'll be going to Vegas for a while. Take care of mom and my sister while I am gone." Ryan tossed a pill to John who grabbed it flawlessly.

"That's my job kid, no need to mention it again and again." John scoffed.

"Kid? Yeah right." Ryan started laughing before he flew off.

After Ryan left the office John said in an extremely strict voice.

"All of you find suspects and collect them in a place away from the city. Preferably outside the walls." John said before opening the black file.

The file actually had profiles of different people, some had a red stamp on their picture while others were just crossed out.

Ryan went back home and ate a lot of food. He needs a lot of food to fill his tummy, he might not be an adult dragon but his hunger is on par with them.

Ryan left with a backpack which had a few sets of clothes. One weird thing was that his watch, that he took from that mercenary was still working to this date. The watch was very mysterious as it withstood countless attacks but still didn't break.

Tia checked the watch but didn't find anything wrong with it.

Anyways, Ryan was flying like usual because in his opinion why would anyone want to travel by road when they can fly.

Ryan was moving towards Vegas, which was not that far because these cities were actually inside the same enclosure. Some might know that California was one of the states of America but when the day of cataclysm arrived everyone had to run and survive. Many States were actually destroyed by the monsters and when humans secured a safe place they renamed the parts of it.

So the city Vegas which was still known as the hub of gambling and nightlife was not so far. Ryan came across many labyrinths blocked by association workers. Only guardians were allowed to go inside.

Ryan was causing confusion among people on the ground. They were really surprised when they saw a man flying, many of them started shouting and it eventually gathered Ryan's attention. He saw the people looking at the sky "Really man?"

He quickly went to a higher altitude, to the stratosphere. He immediately felt corrosion trying to attack his body. Ryan used his draconic vision and saw small black particles which had a shimmer of red in them. These particles were on the cellular level and could not be seen from normal human eyes.

"The corrosion thing is strong here, you should not stay here for long." Umbra said in a worried tone.

"You are right." Obsidian black wings appeared from his back and with a bang he moved forward, breaking the sound barrier.

"This used to be extremely hard." Ryan smiled slightly.

"You are making too much noise." Umbra said.

"Meh….not like I am trying to hide and those aircrafts cannot harm me anymore." Ryan said nonchalantly.

Umbra didn't say anything and remained silent.

Ryan was currently in the air space of Vegas city. It was still bright so it didn't seem so colourful. Ryan took out his phone and dialled Rachel's number which he took from Emma.

After a few rings, someone picked up the call.

"Hello." It was a voice Ryan didn't recognise.

"Hello, this is Ryan Miller. Do you mind handing over the phone to Miss Baros." His voice was as polite as it could go but it still sounded authoritative.

"Hold on for a few moments." The woman sounded innocent and cute.

Ryan didn't say anything and waited while he looked at the city from the sky. People were starting to freak out when they saw a man flying with wings on his back flapping occasionally.

Ryan felt many gazes on him so he retracted his wings. A moment later a different voice came from his phone.

"Ryan?" Rachel said in a surprised tone, it had been too long since she talked with him.

"It's been a while, Ma'am. Do you mind if I ask where Elijah is?" Ryan asked in a friendly tone.

"Of Course not. He's with his sister, they are about to enter a labyrinth." Rachel said like it was the most normal thing to do.

"Oh, can you send me their location?" He asked.

They talked for a few minutes and Rachel sent Ryan their location.

Ryan quickly opened the map and marked them. His body burst with mana and he flew off.

"S rank huh, let's see what they got." Ryan was excited to finally see a labyrinth up Close.

I had an appointment with my doctor and he said power stones are a must for my survival.

That was weird.
