Chapter 45: Friend or Foe

Everyone was already at the hidden entrance Gwyn and her team know of, It was a broken down part of the wall that has been covered with vines, the other squadrons in the kingdom didn't thought of rebuilding it because of the vines.

Even Connor laughed when Gwyn explained this to him about the origin of why this part wasn't fixed, but really convenient for them.

It was in the middle of the night, Violet asked,

"Do I have to smash the vines up?."

Connor stops Violet from proceeding and says [Just wait and see] She crosses her arms, disappointed she won't cut the vines Gwyn walked towards it and touched a random vine.

after a few moments later the vines glowed a bluish light and Gwyn's hand as well, shortly after they noticed the vines getting smaller and smaller until it made a pathway easy for travels, Shocked from what just happened Connor then wore a pair of glasses and was dressed like a teacher and said,

"We never needed to smash the vines, since it's magic after all. And they only respond to someone with water capabilities, basically Gwyn's power is like a key for a door which is the vines."

They were all staring at their boss confused and were thinking "Where did he get those clothes and glasses from?."

A few moments later they proceeded to enter the pathway leading to the outside, after then they entered a tunnel and Inside the van Cameron and Emilia were like two little kids in a road trip looking at the window hoping to see the outside for the first time. Xander then says,

"You two should get some rest it's still nighttime you know, you wouldn't be able to see anything either way."

They turned around and looked at each other smiling and Cameron then said,

"It's okay Sir, me and Emilia really just like watching from the window for something to show up."

as the van jumps as it hit something, Gwyn then said [It must be them!] meanwhile everyone was oblivious to what she meant Connor then filled the information they were asking,

"She meant there's rampaging droids out there, meaning we have company."

They all took their weapons and were ready for battle, meanwhile Gwyn went towards the drivers seat and asked,

Gwyn: What's the status?

Kix: Leader, there are skinny droids everywhere here and one accidentally broke something in the van.

Bones: In order for us to keep going we need to check what's broken and fix it.

Gwyn: Frenda anything on the damage part?

Frenda: Yes, the fuel tank is currently leaking right now.

Gwyn: Do we have any spare gas?

Bones: Yes, we have three.

Gwyn: Then make a full stop here and fix that fuel tank, Frenda you're with me in defending them from the droids that might attack us.

Frenda: Yes ma'am.

Both Gwyn and Frenda went and told Connor their situation and they were all outside forming a perimeter as Kix and Bones fixes the fuel tank.

It was dark but not that much thanks to the moonlight coming from the cracks of the tunnel.

Violet manages to destroy one droid getting close to her as she then says,

"Found one!."

It was a skinny one, thin arms, a curved head, it had no eyes but painted ones, it had no mouth but a speaker attached to where the mouth would be.

as more clanking sounds were getting louder and louder Connor yelled,

"Everyone stand your ground! we only have to buy time until they can fix the fuel tank, so for now let's give them hell."

Oliver fired off multiple icicles and destroyed three droids, Xander was dodging their slowed swings and punches and lands his own sending them flying, Cameron was destroying droids left and right with his spear as he twirls it around and hitting its mark on the droids approaching him, Emilia fired multiple shots and destroyed a few droids when she noticed one droid from a far who just standing there, and it was not like the ones they're fighting right now.

So she squinted her eyes to have a clear look at the mysterious droid, but never could as it disappeared, Cameron then kicks the droid that was about to attack Emilia and says,

"Something wrong? it's not like you to freeze up in battle."

He destroys another droid using his spear while she replies firing her shots and landing them on her targets,

"I saw a droid that was just standing there, but now it's gone."

Cameron: Gone?

Xander: We have incoming!!

They both turned around and saw a huge swarm of droids heading towards them Gwyn asks [How's it going over there!?] Kix replies,

"We need a little more time please Leader."

She lets out a sigh as she sidesteps and dodges a droid's swing only for her to pierce it with her water sword meanwhile Frenda's powers couldn't affect the droids so she was using her technology to fight them.

She used a regular chain that was programmed to follow her every movement from her hands and managed to destroy regular droids by throwing them off or piercing them in the tip of the chain.

as the swarm approaches them, in the middle of their perimeter a voice let out and said,

"No need to fret, I will deal with the swarm just make sure not to mistake me for them."

They all react out of confusion and were shocked to see a droid inside their perimeter, but this one was different, it had skeleton parts like it were his elbow and knee pads, his head was the same as the ones attacking now but had a paint job unlike the rest that was just a plain color.

and for it's arms were rapiers attached to the elbow pads, and the difference between the mysterious one and the regulars, were it had an actual mouth and two pistols in it's sash showing them the droid has a bit of knowledge of weapons and their common language due to it speaking to them right now,

unlike the ones who are attacking who produced gibberish noises as if they were rabid beasts, He slowly walked towards the swarm and pointed one of his rapiers towards it and was consumed by the swarm.

Violet then let out a [The hell was he up to?] seeing the mysterious droid simply walking towards the swarm and getting consumed Connor eyes were squinting as the swarm started to break apart, one by one droids were being flown by random places.

astonished from what they're just seeing Connor then said,

"Alright just keep on defending, they're almost done."

Connor feinted with his right and swung a left destroying the droid as they continued on defending Kix and Bones while they're trying to fix the fuel tank as fast as they can.

The mysterious droid ends up destroying all the droids that were swarming towards them earlier and heads towards Connor, he asks,

"I appreciate the help, now may I know what you're after?."

The droid tilts it's head in curiosity as it then says,

"I am here to simply help travelers if they get into trouble, I can lead the way to the outside more safely, if you'll follow me."

Connor was a bit hesitant at first but seeing multiple droids in the direction their heading he had no choice but to accept his offer he lends out his hand as the droid once again tilts it's head in confusion and asks,

"What are you doing?."

Connor: A handshake, it means I will accept your offer."

"I see."

He shook Connor's hand and said [I'll lead the way] as he then tears one of his metallic parts and placed it on a scratch that Kix and Bones left out, he burned his own metallic part into the scratch with one of the features his fingers have.

Connor was impressed with the droid and said,

"That's a cool droid right there I won't lie."

Gwyn then yelled [Alright everyone in the van!] everyone but the droid entered the van as it was the one leading them out to safety by simply running.

Kix sees the droid in the window and asks,

"Is he serious?."

Bones: He said he would lead the way I guess this make sense no matter how you look at it.

the droid started running as Kix started following it, upon their escape their new droid ally slashed multiple enemy droids in the way while leading them to safety Connor enters the drivers seat and says,

"That droid really is peculiar isn't it Gwyn?."

She was focused on the droid and just now reacted to what Connor said and replied,

"Y-Yeah I'm still not sure to trust it."

Connor: But we don't have any other choice, if it's lying I'm sure we can--!

Gwyn: I don't know why but I'm not sure with all of us here we could defeat that droid even if we went full out.

Hearing those words Connor almost agreed upon seeing the droid destroy the swarm and appear right in the middle of their perimeter earlier without anyone noticing, he placed his hand on his chin and wondered [Is that droid a friend or a foe?]
