An Apocalypse Survival Story

I, Apex, an unassuming college student, unwittingly became a survivor. My once-mundane life transformed in the blink of an eye as zombies suddenly appeared around the globe. During an ordinary lecture, I witnessed fellow students turning into flesh-hungry monsters, igniting a chaos that seemed relentless. Stressed and with no one to rely, I found myself thrust into this nightmarish world, struggling to survive alongside a small group of survivors. Together, we faced the relentless hordes of the undead, scavenged for supplies, and sought refuge in a world that had crumbled around us. My journey, as an ordinary person thrust into extraordinary circumstances, became a test of resilience, resourcefulness, and the unbreakable bond of humanity amidst chaos. The question remained: Could we navigate this new world, find safety, and perhaps uncover the secrets behind the zombie apocalypse? SINCE NO ONE'S READING IT, I'M GONNA STOP WRITING NOW!!

Private Musings (Jazmen)

How long has it been? A week? Ten days? I can't even count now.

The girl who was always prim and pious, except during research hours, has become so unhygienic.

The one who I thought would never have feelings for anyone seems to be seeking a shoulder to lean on in these dire circumstances.

I had that same dream again, the one where zombies finally overwhelmed me, and I was almost bitten by them. But this time, something new happened—someone came to the rescue. I was saved after weeks of treacherous dreams of being bitten every day by those dumb walkers.

It was Apex, yes... the same boy I sarcastically described and wrote as an immature teenager on the first day. He somehow evolved after being bitten, not just once but more than half a dozen times.

And... he's not only evolved but also gained a significant physical transformation. It's as if he acquired years of hard-earned physique overnight. He seems stronger, faster, and possesses better reflexes.

Moreover, he defeated many zombies today. I don't know why, but I had this intuition, and I helped him by killing some of the zombies with a fire extinguisher. I can't describe this feeling properly, but I might be having some feelings for the first time in my life.

He also seems too obvious in his advances. He was so insistent in his request for me to sleep beside him, as if he were a long-lost baby. It's not that he has ulterior motives, but it just seems he feels comforted beside me. Well, it's not something new; according to a theory, if two people spend some days alone together, they will start feeling reliant on each other, even if the other one was of no use to them. In our case, I was of a lot of worth, so him being like this was not unexpected. Also, for someone so young, facing this situation with such resilience is already a great feat, so I just let his small nuances slide. His good looks might be one of the reasons for me being like that too.

With this personal experience, I can finally derive: Oxytocin is dangerous.

Also, the newly found survivors seem strange. Kane is a pervert and even more of an arrogant prick than I described yesterday. Soul has the perfect attractive silent personality, while Kat and Emma seem to be trying to use Apex as their shield. That idiot seems unable to resist their bootlicking, so I might try to warn them at night. I don't need to talk about Zolo; she's an idiot as always.

I believe Apex still prefers me first if something unpleasant happens. I still believe in my looks and our bonding.

The day was hectic. Apex's return brought relief but also a lot of questions. How did he evolve? What caused the change? How did he fight off the virus? Was it his willpower or something else? His transformation seems too unreal and unprecedented in human history.

Anyways, that's for another day to write.

That's for today from my side, Jazmen.

Dear Diary

Yawn*

"Is everyone up?" I looked around and found Soul sitting at my side, so I asked him.

"Yeah, they went to the bathroom to clean themselves up. They told me to inform you about them and ask you to get ready quickly because we don't know when we'll be able to get through the gateway. So, they said it's better to move out early," Soul informed me.

"Understood. I'm going out then," I said and jumped down from the table I was sleeping on.

Walking out, I saw a zombie around the corner of the corridor. It looked like the others were not being considerate with noise. Being too careless against these zombies would be fatal. I needed to tell them not to be lax even in the safest of environments.

I went behind the zombie silently, then gave it a hard blow with the fire extinguisher. Damn! I was way too careless with my strength; its brain matter burst out and stained the upperwear given to me by Kane, whose massive size came to help; at least for once.

After dealing with that, I went towards the bathroom. With the evolution, my eyesight had improved too, and even from a distance, I could see an eye peeking at me from the bathroom. It was Kane. I had something else planned for him, so I let him go this time and didn't mind him going back inside as I reached near the bathroom.

Inside the bathroom, two doors divided by a wall with a man and a woman poster appeared. I stood in front of the women's toilet and tapped it lightly.

"Seems you all forgot what the situation is. There was a zombie at the corner of the corridor. I killed it, so don't be afraid, but keep in mind, don't make a lot of noise. Also, I really want to go inside and meet Jazmen, Hehe* that's all from my side," I said and went inside the men's washroom.

'What an idiot,' a shy smile appeared on Jazmen's face as she heard my words, but there was no one to enjoy the beautiful view of her bathing with that pious smile.

I saw one of the compartments locked and understood Kane was inside.

"Hey, bud, no hard feelings, but don't stare at my girl so hard. I don't like it. You've got yours, so stick to her. The wider your hand spreads, the easier for them to break," I said in a smooth voice.

"I didn't, and anyhow, I've heard you both talk. She's not your girl," Kane's voice came from inside, lacking confidence in his words but saying whatever was in his heart.

"Doesn't matter. I'm just saying. Take it as a request or a suggestion. Just remember that I'm standing in front of her. Also, you've got your girl, so it seems impossible that a modern girl like Jaz will agree to you. Anyways, I don't know how long we'll live, so keep trying. People often don't understand for what reason their demise might come," I said with an eerie voice and then went to the other empty compartment.

Taking care of my needs, I then took a bath, fully unclothed, as I needed those clothes until I found new ones.
