A smirk lifted the corner of Teddy's mouth when she read the letter a servant had stopped to deliver her. Evidently, Theodora Elizabeth Raine was being disowned by the Raine family.
With precision, Teddy refolded the letter and placed it in her pocket. She would have to give the note to her lawyer later. Her innocent smile back in place she strode into the side room. Once inside she mentally let out of sigh of relief, the bright lighting of the ballroom replaced with a softer tone.
Signing the papers the secretary handed her took about ten minutes, mostly because she took the time read the contract thoroughly. There were shockingly few stipulations about the treatment of the people she essentially owned.
A polite knock sounded, and Teddy strode to open the door. Her eyes were met with seven pairs of eyes staring intently at the floor.
When the males were being chosen although frowned upon it wasn't a complete violation to meet the potentials gaze, because it made it easier for the misses to see their facial features. But now when they were owned it would be a severe offense to do the same.
She ignored it for now the explanation would have to wait. She needed to get them settled in and because of her mother's timely disownment, she would have packed her personal trinkets and taken them all to one of her houses.
"Thank you for coming so quickly, something came up so I'm afraid our promised talks will have to wait." She apologetically stated. After a few quick taps on her bracelet, a maid appeared.
"She'll take you to my car, I sent a digital key to you all. Make yourselves comfortable, play some music, turn on the hear. I'll just go grab my things."
There were nods of confirmation from the boys, some nods more hesitant and jerky than others. But they still followed the sevant, their duffel bags of belonging slung over their shoulders.
It didn't take Teddy long to shove her few personal items into her backpack, leaving the clothes and books, she hadn't chosen in the first place. Looking at her watch she realized she still had fifteen minutes.
Grabbing her headache medicines, dry swallowing a few, she grabbed a pair of shades hoping they would help while the meds kicked in. Not that they ever did much, her headaches usually classified as migraines, were debilitating at best and a constant pain when medication was involved.
Maybe she talk to her doctor again about changing to new one or upping the dosage. Speaking of doctor's she still needed all the boys to get their check ups, and Min Yoongi needed that shoulder checked out.
Taking a few deep breaths Teddy spun around and skipped out the door, humming happily as she headed towards her SUV that seated eight comfortably.
The boys had also turned off the music when they saw her approach. From what she had heard it had been a intense rap, with a shiver worthy bass.
No one talked on the drive there, mostly because Teddy hadn't initiated anything and she didn't plan on it. She would have to apologize for that later, but now that her adrenaline rush from picking seven insanely attractive males to be her roommates for the rest of her life had begun to taper off.
That meant the pain she had staved off was coming full force. It seemed the forming migraine had sense the impending medication and wanted to get it last few kicks in before the medicine could subside it to a dull ache with nasuea.
Meaning despite wanting to her their opinions about her owning them she knew her rationality was being severely affected. So she ignored the glances between the boys, the leg bouncing and less than subtle huffs of annoyance.
It took about twenty minutes for them to arrive at one her homes, she had mentally gone through her list and narrowing it by distantance from where they where, the number of rooms and whether maintenance and cleaning staff had been through it recently.
She had chosen a beautiful two-story home, twenty minutes away, eight bedrooms and several study waiting to be converted into whatever fitted her fancy, the only problem was cleaning hadn't been in for a week, so their was liable to be dust around, but it should be fine.
"Ta-da boys! Welcome to my humble abode." She declared stepping out of the parked car to give a theatrical bow, ushering the boys forward. "The bedrooms are on the second floor, you each can chose your own. Unfortanately one of the rooms is mine the last door to left. I'll be heading to my room first. I'm exhausted! I should be all set in a couple hours, feel free to unpack, take a shower, or just watch TV on the main floor." After blurting out that Teddy praticully sprinted to her bedroom.
As soon as she entered she yanked the black out curtains close, and shuffled into more comfortable attire than her dress, opting for a soft teddy bear sweatshirt. Gingerly she laid her head down on the pillow. A wave of pain hitting her once more, this time she let herself curl into a tighter ball letting out a sad whimper. Migraines sucked.
She did worry about her new roommates, but d**** it she was selfish she didn't want to be in terrible pain while they inevitably yelled at her for taking their lives away. Which they had every right to. Society had helped, but she was the one that had chosen to participate, she could have said no ran away. Cowardice isn't a color that looks good on anyone, but it was one Teddy knew well and wore many times.
She empathized with the plight of the male gender, but their was too much for her too lose and its not like it would change. What could a bastard daughter do against the power of all the women in power?
Sorry for the late update, I did plan on publishing it earlier, but I wrote the first chapter on a whim and kept thinking about how rushed it was and the 1 million ways I could have written it, but I decided, in the end, to keep it as it is. I am planning though on writing and publishing other stories to see what works best with my mind and what interests you.
