Sandra had gone out with her now six years old Jesse to the market to get some foodstuff, the weather was scorching hot which made them put on light polka-dotted dresses, covering their faces from the sun with head scarfs.

like the father had described Jesse to be a giver of blessings, her son Ethan was born three years after Jesse's birth, which made the family happier.

"no honey, you need to stay at home with your brother,"

"but I want to follow you to the market so that I can be of help to you,"

"Honey, I just want to buy foodstuff in the market, not like I'll be gone forever,"

"I still want to follow you," Jesse insisted, giving her mother a stern look.

"how about you Ethan, do you want to follow me to the market,"

"Nah I'm good," Ethan was reluctant to go with them, he was very antisocial and preferred staying on his bed with his toys or reading his books, Sandra just kept some snacks for him just in case he wanted to eat and then left with Jesse to the market.

"mama..., you're taking too long to buy everything,"

just like Sandra thought she was already whining.

"you should have listened to me, when I told you to stay at home Jesse," snapped at her, annoyed that Jesse was already complaining.

"I just wanted to be of help, Mama, but you've been taking hours,"

"I'll soon be done, I just need to buy some fish and cabbage so I can make a good sauce for us,"

"Okay,"

They finally arrived at the place she buys her fish and she began to price the fish with the female seller.

"this one cost 5 r and this other cost 9 r," the seller informed her, pointing at the fish she was referring to.

"give me the one for 9 r,"

"Okay, ma'am,"

"Mom why don't you buy the one of 5r, it's much cheaper,"

"that one is dry and has so many bones in it, you and Ethan might get choked while eating, is better to buy the overpriced one and enjoy a better meal,"

"Okay mummy,"

the seller put it inside a sack for them, bidding them farewell as they left to buy some cabbage before heading home.

Jesse helped her mother to hold some of the stuff she bought, while she opened the door for them to enter.

"Mummy...," Ethan came running towards them giving his mother a big hug.

"I hope nothing happened when I left,"

"no Mom, everything was okay, I was well-behaved since you left,"

"that my boy, let me go make you guys a good meal," Sandra said, picking up her apron and left for the kitchen, as her children cheer her before leaving to go and play with each other.

Ryan was back from work when Sandra was done preparing the meal,

"hey Ryan, how was work today," Sandra asked, keeping some plates and cutleries on the table.

Ryan was working at a construction company as an inspector, he began to remove his boot and hat, placing them in their rightful places, he hugged his wife from behind and gave her a peck on the cheek.

"work was okay, although we almost had a problem with our client who just let complaining about everything, there's nothing Ryan can't handle, I solve the problem and made everyone happy,"

"that's why you're my man," Sandra praised, patting him on the cheek, as he started to place light kisses on her face and neck.

"stop, let me go and call the kids," she told him hurrying down to the kid's room while Ryan went to theirs to go and change into one of his house wears.

"Mummy, can I go and play with Mary now," Jesse inquired when she was done eating.

"yes, but make sure you don't disturb Uncle Bob okay, how about you Ethan, do you want to join your sister,"

"no..., I'll pass, I have some books I haven't finished reading yet,"

"Okay, make you come back before six pm Sandra,"

"Okay mummy, take care every one," she waved at them, running towards Uncle Bob's house which was just two houses away from them.

Uncle Bob and his daughter Mary were done picking up some hay bales for their horses when they heard a small voice from afar calling Mary's name, they saw Jesse running towards them.

"Jesse," Mary called back giving Jesse a warm hug, Bob looked at them, happy to see how cute they were together.

Jesse and Mary became friends after Jesse rescued her from bullies at school, although Mary was older than her, Jesse always behaved like she was the senior.

"I can't play with you today Jess, my Papa has so much work to do on his farm so I'm helping him,"

"It's okay, I can be of help too, Uncle Bob what can I do for you,"

"you can join Mary in sweeping the stable," he instructed them, as both of them rush down to the stable.

they were done cleaning the stable and since Bob didn't have any other work of their age to give them, they both stick around to ask him questions about what he was doing.

"Daddy why are the cows mooing too much,"

"Are they hungry,"

"you're shaving all it cloth,"

"poor thing, it will probably get a cold in the night," Bob was getting tired of answering their questions so he asked them to go and play by themselves, they ended up chasing little chickens that didn't want to be touched by them.

Jesse finally got tired of playing, so she bid them farewell and left for her home, her mom was done bathing Ethan and so proceeded in bathing her too, she started to explain everything that happened on the farm and how she had been of help to Uncle Bob, making her mom praise her for the help she rendered to Uncle Bob when her mom was done bathing her, she dried her body with a towel and wore her a long white nightgown, laying her on the beside her brother and tucks the blanket on her, Sandra began to sing sweet lullabies until they were asleep and she left to her room.
