A Thousand Words Left Unsaid

Have you ever got the feeling of familiarity when meeting someone new? A strange irony, isn’t it? Going through it immerses one in a feeling of deja vu. There’s this inexplicable sentiment wherein time stops and everything seems worthless; incomparable to the moment which is about to occur. But for the ones who posses the abilities of an oracle, these moments are merely foreshadowing- a portal, rather; a bridge connecting the gap between the present and the future.

"Many people.."

After the incident before, Khai went outside his dorm and explored the school.

He knew that he had pressing matters at hand but those were irrelevant in the big picture.

"I'll just have to get used to it again."

He was determined not to let this chance pass him by. He will turn his life around to something he would be proud of.

As his last destination, he chose to go to the school's library.

Sitting down near a window, he opened the book that caught most of his interest the moment he saw its cover.

"How to kill a ghost 101"

Although its genre wasn't something Khai was interested in, the contents caught his attention.

It may seem ridiculous to few but the contents found would most certainly shock anyone that encounters it.

The book was extremely detailed. Just one flip of a page and numerous interesting details about ghosts; ranging from their sizes and shapes, personalities, location and even to their habits.

It was almost as if these were not imaginations, but existing creatures that were found and studied!

"This is.. unique."

At a loss for better words, Khai could only release those words to decribe his impression of the book.

'I unconsciously picked it up since I happen to have had an encounter, but am I really being possessed?'

The book held accounts of those who were possessed and they were resonating with him the most at the moment.

Not one time did Khai ever thought to look upon books on ghosts to see if he could be treated.

"I don't belive in this stuff so it can't be helped." Khai sighed.

"Then why read it?"

"Hm?" Khai looked up to see a student looking at him strangely.

"Excuse me?"

"Ah!" The student suddenly had a realization and he scratched his head in embarrassment. "My bad, I didn't intend to be nosy."

"It's fine." Khai smiled.

He took a sweeping glance and noticed that the library was full of students walking to and fro.

'Ah, I was so engrossed in this book that I didn't even notice..'

When he came, the place was void of people. But now, there were people everywhere! There wasn't a place he'd look that wasn't occupied by someone.

Truly, it was a bad habit of his to be totally immersed in something that interests him.

He returned his gaze to the student in front of him.

He was tall, his features were sharp but delicate, a mixture of arrogance and softness. He was a rare beauty. Any woman would fall for him if they were to base it on looks alone.

Not just that, but the student also radiated calmness in his posture and gaze, confident yet not concieted.

'His stature..'

Khai could also somewhat tell that he had a sturdy body under the long-sleeved polo he was wearing.

'Was he going to sit down in front of me?'

He noticed that the student was holding a book.

Khai was sitting at a desk with two seats near the corner of the library. It was a great position to avoid the hustle and bustle of people.

"You're welcome to sit down." Khai invited.

"Ah," In a bit of a shock, the student nodded and took the seat in front of him.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to make things awkward." Khai apologized. He felt that he didn't handle the situation well.

"It's fine, really. It was my fault for having a big mouth." The student offered his hand. "Name's Link, I hope this won't make things awkward between the two of us."

'So many rings,,'

Khai stared at his hand, all of his fingers wore extravagant golden rings.

"Mm." Khai accepted his hand and shook it. "Khai."

"Unique.. Pleased to meet you, I hope we'll get along well in the future."

"I'm looking forward to it." Khai was amazed at how Link managed to salvage his image.

If things ended in their greetings, Khai would've had reservations towards this person.

However, with his simple words and etiquette, everything dissapeared like smoke.

"Are you also a freshman?"

Khai decided that this person was someone worth getting to know.

"Mhm, we're in the same class, if I'm not mistaken."

"Really?" Khai blinked in surprise. "How'd you know?"

"Well," Link pointed at his ID.

"Hm? You read it?" Khai was surprised. The text encoded in his ID were not particularly large.

He also didn't notice Link looking at it, impressive!

As one of the campus' rules, 'you aren't allowed to enter any academic facilities without an ID', he always had his ID in his pockets.

"Uhm, not quite. If you look carefully, our ID's are colored yellow, 2nd years have green ones and 3rd years have red."

'Interesting..' Khai looked at his ID and saw that indeed, its borders were colored yellow. Even its lace had yellow stripes.

When he looked at the people around, there were also red and green.

"Not a lot of yellows," Khai muttered.

"They're mostly going around, exploring the campus, joining clubs and enjoying its facilities." Link answered.

"You mean like the malls?"

"Mhm. Since this institution has a large campus, even those who came the other day haven't finished exploring it yet."

"That's true. The campus is big."

It was good that he didn't go around exploring as well. Otherwise, his legs would've caved in and he wouldn't even be ⅕th of the way done.

"How about you? Why are you here?" Khai asked.

"Oh, I'm just waiting for someone." Link casually answered.

'Still, it's hard to believe that he knew that we're classmates just after seeing that I'm a freshman.'

"How did you-"

As Khai was about to ask, his vision started to get blurry.

"Fuck.."

'Don't tell me.. I'm losing my consciousness? You've got to be kidding me! At a time like this?'

'Hold yourself together, Khai!'

He couldn't allow himself to show his vulnerable side.

'Fuck,, my meds..'

Frantically searching for his medicine from his bag that he placed on the floor, he suddenly realized that he couldn't even balance himself properly.

His torso started to sway unstably.

"Hey! Are you okay?" He heard Link's panicked voice.

'I am..'

'Shit. I can't..'

Blank.

"Hey!" At the moment Khai was about to hit the wall, Link caught him.

Thankfully, his hands were quick enough to shield Khai's head from getting in contact with the wall.

"What?" Utterly confused, Link carefully positioned Khai to a comfortable posture.

"This won't do.." Pulling out his phone, he contacted someone.
