Zuke had imagined numerous possibilities for his identity upon arrival, but he never anticipated he would descend as a spirit.
He had no legends in the Type-Moon world; to this world's Counter Force, Zuke should count as a textbook otherworldly being.
He also had no idea how his system enabled him to manifest as a spirit in this world.
What made him even more speechless was that he was summoned by Rin Tohsaka—a primary character in the Fifth Holy Grail War but currently just a young girl.
Out of concern for her father, Tohsaka Tokiomi, Rin had tried following the summoning ritual he left behind, drawing a summoning circle on the hallway floor just to try it out.
Yet, it actually worked, and Zuke somehow became this little girl's Servant.
"Whoa! I was just experimenting, but I actually summoned someone... Could I be a genius?"
Although still a young girl, Rin Tohsaka was already displaying a considerable degree of vanity, hinting at the personality she'd have in high school.
She looked up at Zuke, then circled him before stopping in front of him, hands on her hips.
"My Servant, what's your name? What's your class? And your abilities?"
"Can't you check for yourself?"
Zuke felt a bit speechless; Masters in the Holy Grail War could observe their Servant's basic panel data. Though they couldn't deduce the true name or Noble Phantasms, seeing attribute values was no problem.
"My name is Zuke. As for my class... it seems to be Berserker?"
When summoned, the Holy Grail injects spirits with knowledge of the modern era to prevent them from causing chaos in the current age.
Zuke didn't need this, but for some reason, the Grail still added a bit of modern knowledge to his memory.
At the very least, Zuke now knew his class was Berserker—the mad warrior, a class known in the Holy Grail War for trading sanity for strength.
"What? Berserker? You don't look like a mad warrior at all."
Hearing Zuke's answer, Rin was stunned. She looked him up and down, confirming he didn't seem irrational in the slightest.
"And I've never heard of a hero named Zuke..."
"Little girl, how many books have you read to think you know the names of all heroes?"
Zuke unceremoniously reached out and ruffled Rin's head, watching as she struggled out of his large hand, visibly annoyed.
Through this moment, Zuke caught sight of his own spirit panel in this world:
Strength: EXEndurance: EXAgility: EXMana: CLuck: ENoble Phantasm: EXClass Skill: Madness Enhancement E~A (For unknown reasons, Madness Enhancement can be toggled on and off. When activated, all parameters except Luck and Mana double, but language ability is lost.)Noble Phantasm: Blackbird Stand (Destructive Power E~, Speed E~, Range A, Endurance B, Precision C, Growth A; a black, humanoid stand with the same power and speed as the user. It can absorb other things to gain their abilities.)
Thanks to his transformation into a spirit, this was Zuke's first time seeing his Stand's panel.
The minimum and maximum for destructive power and speed were inherited from his physical self.
But his Mana parameter was only C... It seemed the Grail didn't recognize his mastery of Ki as Mana.
Otherwise, with his total control over Ki, there was no way he'd be rated at just C.
Nevertheless, even with this, the panel was already intimidating—four EX parameters. If other Masters saw this, they'd probably back out on the spot.
"This... Is this panel real?"
Rin was also stunned by Zuke's parameters. As his Master, she hadn't expected to summon such a terrifying spirit.
What was even more impressive was that despite this monstrous panel, Rin hadn't felt she needed to provide an enormous amount of Mana to support him. It seemed Zuke could sustain himself.
If Zuke knew what Rin was thinking, he'd probably realize that the Ki in his body was maintaining his existence.
Since he didn't require much Mana from Rin, she couldn't exert much control over him.
However, Zuke's attention wasn't on the parameters; his focus had locked onto his Class Skill: Madness Enhancement.
As the description indicated, he could toggle this ability on and off.
When off, he functioned as usual, able to speak and act without hindrance.
But when activated, he'd receive a doubling of all attributes at the cost of his ability to speak.
"Isn't this practically the Kaio-ken, just with a mute side effect?"
At first glance, Zuke immediately realized how significant this Class Skill was for him.
It doubled his stats. In Dragon Ball, Goku relied on Kaio-ken to deal with enemies before he could go Super Saiyan.
Although Madness Enhancement didn't stack in the same way as Kaio-ken, it didn't have the side effect of physical strain either.
At least in the Type-Moon world, plenty of spirits with Madness Enhancement existed, and none of them suffered bodily collapse from it.
Before entering this mission world, Zuke had zero motivation to complete the main task.
Now, however, Zuke was determined to complete the main quest, no matter what it took, and bring this Madness Enhancement ability back with him!
With this, his path to power in the Dragon Ball world would be cut in half!
"Berserker, I am your Master, right!?"
Just as Zuke resolved to complete the main quest, Rin seemed to regain her composure.
She looked at Zuke with a hint of seriousness and asked.
"As your Master, I expect you to fulfill my commands, right?"
"What kind of Master has so little confidence?"
Zuke looked at her, amused. Although Rin had been very confident when she'd first summoned him, matching his impression of her, now, after seeing his absurd panel, she seemed unsure if he was truly her Servant.
"So, what do you want me to do?"
Seeing that Zuke still seemed respectful toward her as his Master, Rin relaxed a bit and told him:
"I want… for you to go to the Matou family and check on someone for me."
