Confrontation

Liam's pov

I watched as Jasmine's tears fell while I yelled at her. A pang of guilt and regret hit me.

I knew I had hurt her but I wanted her to hate me. Marrying her was already a dangerous game, and I couldn't risk her falling deeply in love with me.

My dark past wouldn't allow it. I had done things I wasn't proud of. I used to be in the mafia, and my hands were stained with blood.

It's all in the past now, but I still regret it every day of my life because I'd hurt people close to me.

People who trusted me and loved me with everything they have. Someone like Jasmine, that's one of the reason why I don't want her to love me.

"Jasmine please don't make this harder than it is already," I said to her in a calm voice.

I touched her hand but she flinched and moved away from me. "Jasmine," I called her name.

"Let's go home," she said harshly and I nodded.

"Your house or mine?" I asked her and she shot me a glare.

"Alex told the maids to move my things to your house," she replied.

"When did he do that? I thought you won't be comfortable living with me," I uttered and she still wore a scrowl on her face.

"Speak for yourself, Liam," she said and turned away from me.

I watched her as she swayed her hips as she walked away. She is beautiful and my type of girl but it can't happen between us.

I can't do that to her. I sighed and my legs almost gave out.

Today was meant to be a special day between Rachel and i, but life took an unexpected turn.

When I got downstairs, I couldn't find Jasmine anywhere. "Where is Jasmine?" I asked my driver.

"She already ordered an Uber home, sir. She said you shouldn't worry about her," he replied and I nodded.

I entered the car and he drove me home. On our way back home, a car came from no where and blocked ours.

"What's going on?" I asked feeling angry already. I came down from the car and the other car door also opened.

The person who came out from the car wore a mask on his face so I couldn't tell who he was.

"Liam west," he said and I raised a curious brow. "Who the fuck are you?" I spat and he chuckled.

"You don't know me but I do know you, Liam. I know everything about you," he said with a laugh.

I wondered who he was and why was he threatening me in broad daylight?

My heart raced at the thought of him knowing about my dark past. I didn't show it instead I gave him a scrowl.

"Show your face if you are not scared," I urged him and he shook his head.

I took a bold step because I was ready to know who he is. "Don't try it," he warned and opened his shirt.

I took a step back when I saw a gun. He knows me well and he is definitely from the mafia. I was sure of that.

"I will destroy you soon and I will tell the whole world about your past," he said and I became worried.

I left mafia and everything related to it but I don't want anyone to know about it. If they do, I will be put behind the bars.

"What do you want? Money? Houses? Cars? Just name it," I asked him to name his price.

He walked closer to me and place the cold metal on my stomach. Anyone who sees us would have thought it was a normal conversation.

"I'm coming for your wife," he whispered. I watched him with my mouth wide open as he drove off.

I stood on the same spot because I didn't know what to do next. I don't know how I felt at that moment.

"My wife? Jasmine? Rachel? Everyone thought I got married to Rachel and not Jasmine.

The mask really did it's work. What relationship does Rachel has to do with this guy? What have I gotten myself into?

"Boss, are you okay?" My driver's voice pulled me out of my thoughts.

I nodded but his brows still furrowed in concern. "I'm fine, Mr Patrick. Let's go," I assured him.

As he drove, my heart was heavy. I was worried about everything. What if my secrets get out?

Does Rachel have a hand in this? Is that why she left? Everything was tiring and draining.

"Liam, why is your face like this?" Jasmine asked, her voice laced with worry as I stepped into my house.

"I'm fine, thank you," I replied her. She pulled me back when I was about to walk away from her.

"You are not fine. There's something wrong with you," she protested. She still cares about me so much after everything I have done to her.

Rachel never cared about me like this. I was always the one looking for her attention and showering her with love.

I stared into Jasmine's blue orbs and I felt something I haven't felt for a long time. I couldn't place a name to this feeling.

"Why do you care about me, Jasmine? I hurt you just an hour ago and you still care," I asked and she smiled softly.

"It because I love you. I love you so much and no matter what you do I will always love you, Liam," she said softly, her voice soothing and calm.

"I don't deserve you, Jasmine. I don't deserve this love you are showing me. I'm a monster," I said in a trembling voice.

"You are not a monster. You are an angel, my angel," she smiled and I felt tears rushed into my eyes.

"I know you don't love me but I will always stand by you, Liam," she assured me.

I couldn't say anything, I knew I was a terrible person. She truly loves me, more than Rachel does.

I held her hand and we were both lost in each other's gaze. I groaned when I heard my phone rang.

"Sorry," I said to Jasmine and she nodded. The caller was unknown.

"Hello my love",I heard Rachel's voice at the other end when I picked the call.
