Chapter 5 Exploring

Seeing that the other apes were to tired to travel, King Adros decided the group would take a rest for another half hour before going back to their tribe. While Ajax was resting, he was constantly reviewing the battle that occurred between him and the horned bear. He thought about his level and the level of the horn bear, while also thinkin about the high level that his father was. Although his father was the current monkey king of their tribe, he believed that although strong, he didn't believe that his father could be the leader or strongest of the whole Sun Forest which is one of the main quest that he had to complete. Ajax was thinking that this task may be harder than it seems. As these thoughts ran in his head, King Adros stood up and told every one that it was time to go back. He himself carried the giant bear is it was too big to for the younger apes to handle it. On the way back, Mathew the older ape with them decided to lecture the three apes that became unable to finish the fight properly. He told them the mistakes that were made and how to be cautious especially to Matt who keeps making noises alerting the enemy during critical moments.

Getting closer and closer to the tribe, the other groups of young apes were also on the way back. As they saw King Adros' group and the beasts that they had caught, they were all riled up and was astonished by what they saw on King Adros' back which was a giant horn bear.

Seeing their reactions, with a big grin on his face, King Adros said, " This beast was killed by my son with the help of his friends".

This statement caused complete silence among the apes. A horn bear is particularly a strong beast for the elders, but for the young apes, it was practically impossible as they were strong and huge for such a low level beast. But seeing the scars and injuries of the group, they could only believe the truth. There were also another group that astonished the crowd. This group of apes managed to hunt down an alligator. Its size was about 7 foot long and was carried by the older ape in that group. The alligator had a dark green color which its scales that looked almost like cheap armor that you could find in some old store. Although the scales looked like this, its body was really compact and one can tell that this beast was at least as strong as the horned bear that Ajax's group had fought. However, it was obvious that the horn bear would pose a slightly harder challenge as it was a land animal and was more adaptable on fighting with creatures of the land where as the alligator, although it can walk and travel on land, its level of threat is not high if one is cautious enough to avoid the fight in water and lure it on land. The group that hunted that alligator belongs to Mason.

Mason was one of the few leaders in the tribe that worked under his father, King Adros. Mason was a powerful ape, He was nearly as tall as King Adros, but his looks were fairly different. King Adros' fur used to be pitch black but now one can tell that it was starting to turn to a light version. The muscle on his body were large but compact which add charisma into his body. However, if one looked very carefully at his back, one can tell that there are some sort of carvings onto his back that depicted several animals, some never seen before. In the beginning Ajax has never noticed these carvings because he was too focused on the world that he has been reborn to. As he noticed these symbols, Ajax had asked what it was but decided not too since he felt that his father would tell him about it himself when he gets older.

Mason's fur was pitch black. His gaze was one filled with a peaceful gaze that made it seem like he is just walking in a park with little worries in the world. This however was in complete contrast with how his body looked. His muscles were large and and powerful. Just looking at the arms carrying the alligator seems that it can easily rip it in two despite the size. As Mason's group was walking by they also noticed the young apes that were in that group. Ajax immediately noticed an ape or should he say primate that looked completely different from the rest of the apes in the tribe. Like most apes in the tribe it walked all four but this primate even though it walked on all four, it was slightly bigger and looked a lot stronger than the rest. Looking at the primate, Ajax knew, this primate is obviously not a chimpanzee, it looked more like a gorilla although a lot smaller since none of them were fully gown yet. The gorilla's arms and head was covered by a dense amount of fur compared to other parts of his body. He had wide shoulders that could blocked the rest of his body when just standing in front of him. As they walked and followed Ajax's group into the tribe, King Adros and Mason simply nodded at each other and walked into a hut after announcing the commencement of the banquet.

After settling down for some time and everyone came back from hunting, they prepared a huge feast with what the apes hunted. There were all sorts of creatures roasting on the fire. There were several ferocious boars, different types of birds and snakes, there also stood one huge horned bear and an alligator prepared carefully in a big fire giving the feast a rush in their bodies as they talked about their hunting experiences. During the feast, Ajax had learned of the young gorilla's name, Jerry. Jerry's original family was murdered by a strong predator that had tore apart his whole tribe with the help of some other predators. Jerry ran and while he was escaping, Mason had found him and quickly took care of the monsters chasing Jerry.

The next few days, Ajax had been finally allowed to go out and hunt alone after such a long time of staying in the forest. Although Ajax knew it was going to be dangerous, but was still looking forwards to exploring the different parts of the forest and hunting them down. As he went to go grab a new wooden spear and a set of bow and arrows, he set out on his exploration of the surroundings. 'Ding' a sound rang in his head.

[ Sub Quest: Discover three civilizations]

[Reward: Inventory]

"Inventory? Yeeeaaaassssss, finally" said Ajax

Just to double check of what the inventory does, he checked the description.

Inventory: Allows the host to hold a certain amount of objects in a large space, does not include living things.

Reading this description, Ajax felt a little bummed about not being able to store living things but was still excited about the idea of not carrying any large items anymore.

As Ajax was beginning to explore his surroundings, he decided that he should first find a nearby stream or a source of water, civilizations are more likely to set up near those areas. After exiting the outskirts of the tribe, he started climbing on to the top of a nearby tree. The tree that he climbed on was fairly large. As he got to a pretty high spot, he started his task of finding water. He looked around looking for signs of water and plants and animals that would be near water. After following trails indicating signs of water, an hour quickly passed by. Finally he found a stream in an fairly open area. The water was exceptionally clean as he can see through the clear water and see the small fishes in them. Still on top of a tree branch, Ajax looked around the area in case of any predators or large animals showing up. Seeing none, Ajax carefully climbed down the tree and began walking towards the stream. As he approached the stream, Ajax felt a grumble in his stomach.

As Ajax has not eaten for the whole day, he decided to do some spear fishing since the stream was not too deep for him to go into. Walking along the stream, he found a spot where there were a good amount of fishes swimming by and chose to hunt around that area. Although different from his previous life of fishing with a fishing pole, spear fishing proved to be a little challenging from him as the location of the fish reflected in the water was different than their actual position. After a few tries of hitting nothing, he finally impaled his first fish. 'ding' a sound rang in his head.

[Learned new skill 'spear fishing]

[killed brown trout, 5 exp gained]

Looking at his new skill and the exp he gained, he became excited that he is able to pick up on these types of skills easily and gaining some exp. Putting the skill aside, he put the fish that was still wiggling on the spear and threw it to the side on the ground where it can only flop until it died. Ajax continued to spear fish some more and found it easier than the last time and caught a few more fishes totally up to 8 fishes accumulating 40 exp. After spear fishing, he decided to cook the fishes that he had caught. He found a spot and built a fire so that he could cook and eat his meal. As the fishes were finished being cooked, he started eating them. As the fish entered his mouth he found the flavor a lot more fresh and tasty it was compared to his old world. The fish meat was soft as watery and the crisp from being grilled on fire added a completely new texture. Taste like chicken was what most people in his old world say about most meat but this tasted even better as it entered his mouth giving him more energy and satisfying. Unlike the meat he tasted at the feast that he took part of, Ajax thought that it may be due to the freshness of the fish but it tasted even better and that was without adding any seasonings. Food made by the ape tribe must've been made by primitive means and since they had to make a journey back, the meat was also not as fresh as this fish was. As Ajax continue to devour the fishes, he reached for the last remaining fish.

As he reached for the remaining fish, he heard a rustling sound from a nearby bush and he saw the creature that came out of it. It was a horned bear. Looking at the horned bear, he immediately used his observation skill on it.

Name: Horned bear [lvl5]

Strength: 25

Defense:30

Agility:18

Intelligence:25

Endurance: 20

Looking at the horned bear, Ajax grew in excitement because he found a chance to increase his level. He was also not as worried because he was a lot stronger and faster since his last encounter with a horned bear. His new status was.

Name: Ajax [lvl 3]

Exp: 130/500

As the two locked gazes, Ajax saw that the horned bear's main gaze was towards the remaining fish that was in his hands. The horned bear was drooling with saliva that trickled down his mouth. Seeing this in a teasing gaze, Ajax chose to stuff the entire fish into his mouth while looking at the horned bear hoping to anger it. Which was proved to be successful, as the horned bear became enraged and roared at Ajax and charged straight at him with the horn pointing towards Ajax's head.

As Ajax saw this, he already knew the battle tactics of a horned bear and charged straight at it. With Ajax's speed it would not be possible for Ajax to not take down the horned bear and he also had more strength. Ajax quickly ran towards the horned bear, it tried to impale him by lunging his horn into Ajax's body but it was quickly avoided. Ajax side stepped to the right side of the bear and plunged his wooden spear into the neck of the horned bear. Successfully, the wooden spear bore straight through the neck and when the horned bear was about to make his last move and take the ape with him with a large swipe of his paw also aiming towards the ape's neck, Ajax suddenly tilted the spear upwards exerting all his strength twisting the horned bear's neck and 'bang' the horned bear had died just like that. 'ding' a sound rang through his head which made Ajax smiled happily.

[Congratulations on killing the horned bear]

[100 exp gained for killing horned bear]

Seeing the exp gained, Ajax was a little sad seeing that exp gained was lower than the first time but exp is exp and it is better than nothing. Ajax looked at his status again.

With nothing left to do, Ajax decided to dissect the bear and cook the horned bear's meat. However his meal was quickly shortened by even more rustling sounds and looked towards the sound and found a different animal. The animals were wolves and there were about 4 of them.

"Looks like I won't be able to get much rest today" Ajax said with andrendaline pumping throughout his body in anticipation for today's battle and gaining a level.
