Saving the Junior

The building collapsed from the middle as the person got smashed into it. Kyonji shakes his head to put off ringing in his ear. He stood up and was about to walk out when the pillar on which the building was situated got smashed by the condensed air bomb.

In a few seconds, the building collapsed on itself with the weight sinking Kyonji inside the rubble. Tred who was standing on the terrace of another building watched him disappear under the wreckage.

He thought that it would be enough, he jumped down to check on the fainted man to arrest him. As he walked to the debris concrete, a sudden earthquake shook him.

A man emerged from the remains of the building, his clothes in shambles with various injuries on his body. Even an iron rod was half gutted inside his stomach making a pretty serious wound.

But there was no expression of remorse on his face, he punched the ground to shake the concrete slab on which Tred was standing and attacked him.

Tred has already burned his reserves of mana and was seeping mana from the local environment at his limit to contain this monster but was still unable to completely put him down. The Kyonji stepped forward and slammed his shoulder right into the stomach of the bewildered Tred.

He flew like a broken kite from the impact of the collision. His four ribs shattered and two floating ones cracked. He spat a mouthful of blood while being crashed into the wall.

After confirming that he was out, Kyonji finally breathed out. These mages are a pain in the ass. They are made of a very very small portion of an already small magical community. But each one of them is full of a superiority complex as a talent to become one is determined from birth.

Thus they are terribly few in number. These can use spells to use magic which ranges from anything to everything but most of them are not strong enough to cause destruction on the scale of the powerful bomb. So generally they take the help of various artifacts and sometimes deal with gods to help them.

Every one of them has a special talent in one field of the spell, some call themselves wizards due to summoning magic while some have weird talents like this Tred. But one thing is always certain: this small community is a very egoistic self-centric, powerful community. They do not even believe each other, leave other beings aside.

Kyonji slapped his hands to exit the temporary realm. In the real world, it was still raining similar to the facet world.

They were now standing in the alley where Tred was unconscious leaning against the wall, with blood flowing out of his mouth.

Kyonji was also badly injured, he smiled and spit a mouthful of blood,

"Kid, I'm much older than you. Next time come with some backup. "

He walked out of that alleyway while staggering on his feet. He fished out his phone and pressed the button for emergency.

After a few seconds, a call came on his phone.

"You, alive? "

"Yeah, sort of. Send someone to get me otherwise I'm going to die soon. "

"You are so seriously injured. Don't tell me you killed someone?"

"No, I don't want to kill an official inspector. I don't want to be put on the blacklist.

Sh*t, get me and send someone stronger on this mission next. I think they are going to know what we are after soon..."

With these words, he plopped down on the footpath, his shoulder bleeding profusely. Even his stomach and torso were badly bleeding.

There was one passerby around the corner who saw him falling but discerning from his build he didn't want to get involved, thinking it was some gang matter. Therefore he called the hospital for him and walked off.

The ambulance arrived ten minutes later on the report of an anonymous caller. But in the reported location, there was nothing.

"Hmm, there is no one?"

"Prank call?" One hospital worker suggested.

They then found the security camera of the local shop there. After getting permission, they watched the recent tape.

In the tape, there was nothing to see, no heavy built man. The walkway was empty from morning to evening in the heavy rain.

But they could see the caller stopping there and watching something. He then nervously took out his phone and called the ambulance. But there was nothing to see in the camera. The footpath was clear without any man.

The case becomes another one of the innumerable cases which were closed due to lack of evidence, report, or suspicion.

Mages when using their mana from the environment render the devices as cameras short-circuited. While Conjurers usually have some permanent rune etched on their body to interfere with such annoying technologies which make them invisible to them.

To let the hidden world remain hidden, various people work day and night for such advanced runes and spells. Even some cleaning people are only responsible for proper disposal and drowning of such type of news in this age of the internet.

At some time a man probably of late twenty was walking with an umbrella in the alleyway where the battle had taken place an hour ago.

His handsome face was holding a cigarette in his lips and a bright shade on his eyes. His brown hair was set in a cool pompadour style. He was humming a little tune under his breath, probably a famous song.

He walked into the dead end and phased right through the wall to appear on the opposite side. He turned around to see unconscious Tred lying there.

He placed his umbrella aside and checked his pulse.

"Oh, alive at least ."

He ran his hand over his chest and clicked his tongue,

"Now now, broken ribs. I said he should take backup with him at least. "

He slapped him a little and then seeing no reaction removed a syringe from his pocket. He injected the solution in him and waited for his reaction.

It was shot of Ritalin chemical which can wake a person up from unconscious condition but it can't be used on normal humans as it has pretty dangerous side effects but for Conjurers and Mages, it is just another painkiller to them.

After five minutes, Tred slowly opened his eyes to the rain that was falling directly to him. Memories flowed to him reminding him why he was here. He looked around to see a young man standing under an umbrella playing with his phone.

"Boss! "

The young man looked at him and smiled.

"Come on,

Let's go back. You can be hospitalized there yourself.

I thought it would be a pretty effort to take you there by myself so I woke you up. You can walk back by yourself, Right ?."

Tred tried to raise himself and was surprised there was very little pain in his body.

"Don't look at me. I am not a mage. I didn't do anything, just gave you a high dose of analgesic. So when you will reach back it will hurt like hell."

"I'm sorry. "

"Don't worry! We got the news he is also no better than you. We will find him next time. "

The boss who was under his umbrella and inspector who ought to be half-dead now was walking together in the rain.

While all the rain was soaking the injured person badly but neither Tred nor his Boss paid any attention to it.

They walked to the abandoned shelter in the city and there were already rows of people waiting with stretchers to take Tred inside. A woman walked out in anger out of the shelter after seeing Tred going inside on a stretcher.

"Are you an idiot?" She yelled. She was the high Mage, one of the colleagues of Ray.

"You let the injured junior walk by himself, what were you thinking, Ray? "

Ray, the boss shrugged his shoulder to his colleague,

"He said he can make it. I didn't force him or anything"
