Anubis, God of Death

As the pentagram fired off in purple flames, Orion suddenly felt something was not right. But his hands were stuck on the floor, his eyes closed but still, he could feel he was forgetting something but he could not remember exactly what.

It was then he suddenly realized, he forgot to ask which God to ask first. He wanted to ask Asahi but the unseen force around him was so dense that he couldn't open his eyes.

Then, as he already knew the exact procedure, Asahi quietly walked to his shoulder and stood just outside the Pentagram Rune. He took out something from his pocket, and then with one flick tossed it out to the center of the symbol.

It was a coin, coin of death. A gold-made ancient artifact of ancient Egyptian civilization with Anubis on one side and his death sickle and weighing scales on another side.

"To connect with the corresponding God of a different plane, we need a medium to act as a signal connection between two planes. This could be some artifact, summon contract, or anything related to that God like it's a sculpture.

This was the first artifact he wanted to use for Orion, as God of death Anubis was although proud but he judged people fairly. Thus giving everyone an equal chance at his power."

Orion felt something dropping in front of him like some coin. But he was not sure if this was his delusion or reality as from where could coin come in this ancient chamber. He was unaware that it was currency, once held by Anubis that was dangling in front of him.

He heard the vague voice of Asahi in his ear whispering,

"God of the dead, Anubis"

He suddenly felt himself connecting with some imperceptible energy after his whisper. And in one second he was drowned in that energy.

A few seconds later, which seemed like a very long time Orion opened his eyes to find himself lying in the unending sands.

He stood up and was amazed at the dusk land of sands. There was a river long stretched going towards infinity from his side.

"Is this land of the Dead? God Anubis? "

He slowly gathered his wits and began to walk towards the river on his side. The sands were stretched beyond distance on both sides of him therefore he was not sure for which direction to head in.

He arrived at the bank of the river and looked at the majestic waters which were going together with these sands towards the horizon on either side. The water in the river was black, flowing calmly. He tried to look at his reflection but was unable to see in the thick black water.

He then decided to walk alongside the river, in the direction of which its water was flowing. Slowly, step by step he continued to stroll in the sands but there were no signs of any structure or building in his sight.

The ever-constant dusk of the desert was also adding to his plight of thinking himself stuck in the endless loop. He slowly but diligently continued to walk in the desert thinking maybe it was one of the tests of the God of the dead.

After what could be described as walking for three whole nights and three days, he suddenly felt his energy almost finished. He looked at the sky and had a mind of cursing but stopped himself thinking about the possible effect of antagonizing God of the dead in his own plane.

The dusk with the setting sun was still constant, a river with black water was also calmly flowing alongside him. But the desert was still unending as earlier. He looked back and ahead, to see no signs of anything to where his gaze could reach.

He wanted to sit down and rest here. But his mind was constantly warning him that if he stopped now, he would never be able to walk again. Thus bracing himself and gritting his teeth, he continued to walk ahead.

As after half-day, when he was about to fall unconscious due to tiredness. Suddenly, the scenery changed like a swirling picture in front of him.

He took a simple step ahead and found himself standing among the graveyard of the dead. It was like he had teleported straight to this place without any indication.

He looked ahead and found a tall seat near the base of the mountain which was shrouded in shadows. He tried to squint his eyes for proper view, then he watched with wide eyes.

As the figure sitting on the seat leaned a little forward to display his head out of shadows. It was the head of a jackal, with red eyes staring straight at him from a distance.

He suddenly felt his heart stop in exhilaration, as those red eyes seemed straight looking into his soul. He controlled his heart to fake calm, as it was a very normal reaction for a person living a normal life when he saw a real God in front of his eyes for the first time.

He took a step forward and wanted to greet but suddenly, he froze in his place.

He felt blood rushing to his eyes, power filling into his body. His throat was choked with blood as he was unable to swallow or breathe. Then with a sudden bang, he vanished from his place.

The Anubis who was observing this human since he stepped into his place, stood up in surprise.

"Someone dares to interfere with the land of Death. "

But after his warning, nothing changed in his land. No one appeared or no sign of anything amiss felt to him, putting the God himself in confusion about what happened with that human.

He was aware of his arrival in his land from the moment gates between earth and his plane connected. Therefore, as always, he gave a simple diligence test to this young man to see whether he has the trait of determination. He wanted him to reach his domain of graves, feeling all the sufferings of what travelers in the desert face while traveling during rites.

The human had successfully reached his place but was still far from passing his test but somehow he was forcefully yanked out of his land of Dead. He could not care to think about some trivial matters related to a puny human thus after getting no more leads on what happened he threw that matter at the back of his mind.

In the Ancient chamber, below the MoJ building. Orion awoke from his unconscious state with a start. Asahi, who was waiting by the side, was surprised by his sudden entry.

The Pentagram blood runes burned into ash almost removing the symbol from the floor leaving only a vague impression left behind.

With a jerk, energies recoiled in the chamber which disturbed the whole hall threatening to destroy the whole chamber.

But fortunately, the chamber was strong and tested for such abnormalities therefore was able to contain violent energies. Asahi after confirming everything was right observed, Orion.

He was still settled in the center of the now dimly ablaze pentagram but his hands were trembling due to energy recoil. The pain was apparent from the expression on his face that he was also hurt by violent energies.

"Did I somehow piss off Anubis?" Asked Confused Orion as he felt his hands shaking uncontrollably in pain.
