New Mexico Town
In a remote and sparsely populated town, a local supermarket was boasting a significant price cut, attracting a unique pair of visitors.
"Jie Luosi, do you think I'll be recognized like this?" Saitama asked, his face obscured by a black wig and glasses, his casual clothes making him look somewhat nondescript.
Jie Luosi, with her golden double ponytails and azure blue eyes, stood next to him. As a skilled hero known for her distinctive appearance, she had managed to blend in remarkably well. "Teacher, I don't think anyone will recognize you."
"Good," Saitama replied, feeling relieved. His sudden rise to fame had turned his life upside down. A few days ago, he had been the center of attention, with fans and imitators flooding the streets of Manhattan. Now, in this quieter setting, he hoped for a normal day out.
As they approached the salesperson, Jie Luosi requested, "Please give us fifty Mexican chicken rolls."
The saleswoman was taken aback. "Fifty? Are you sure?"
"Yes, fifty. It's part of the big sale," Jie Luosi affirmed, pointing to the sale sign.
The saleswoman nodded, "Okay, please wait a moment," and went to prepare the order.
Saitama, scanning the supermarket for other deals, noticed that the prices were unchanged, which frustrated him. Without a hero association to provide income, he felt that heroes in this world were quite underpaid.
Suddenly, a stern middle-aged man entered the store. Seeing the salesperson absent, he aimed a gun at Jie Luosi and demanded, "Hand over everything, or you'll lose your lives."
Jie Luosi turned to face the robber calmly. "I can handle the gun as if it's not even there."
"Huh?! A robbery?" Saitama stepped forward, seemingly unfazed by the situation. The thief, nervous, directed his gun at Saitama. "Who are you?"
"Me? Uh, you can call me Qi Mu," Saitama said, almost reporting his real name before Jie Luosi signaled him to change it.
"I don't care who you are. Hand over the valuables now," the robber insisted, shooting at them in frustration.
The saleswoman, having witnessed the commotion, managed to call the police while watching from a safe spot. Jie Luosi quickly took care of the situation, catching the bullets mid-air and neutralizing the threat with precision. The robber fell dead outside.
"It's over, let's go," Saitama said casually, holding the box of chicken rolls. Jie Luosi followed as they prepared to leave.
The saleswoman, confused and stunned, could only watch them go. "Who are these people? A hero I've never heard of?"
On the street, Saitama handed the box to Jie Luosi and, munching on a chicken roll, wondered aloud, "Will we be found out?"
Jie Luosi reassured him, "No, I used electromagnetic pulses to disable the supermarket's electronics."
"That's good."
The saleswoman was left speechless.
As the pair was about to head back to Manhattan, a cosmic event occurred. A space distortion in the distant universe resulted in two rays of light, one large and one small, racing toward Earth. Moments later, a black shadow hurtled through the sky and crashed into the ground with a deafening boom.
Saitama, struck on the head by the object, staggered back, feeling disoriented. Jie Luosi, alarmed, called out, "Teacher!!"
Saitama, dazed and with his wig turned to dust, touched the small red bump on his forehead. His usual calm demeanor was replaced by anger and confusion. "Who threw that hammer? Come out and face me!"
He leaped up, ready to confront the unseen assailant, his frustration evident. Jie Luosi, using her advanced technology, checked for additional information and said, "Teacher, the satellite indicates that another figure has descended along with the hammer. They might be connected."
"Let's go find them. They ruined my lovely hair!" Saitama grumbled.
"Teacher, you don't have any hair."
The hammer, lying flat rather than upright, had caused a significant impact. Heimdall, stationed on the Rainbow Bridge in Asgard, observed the event with a mix of bewilderment and curiosity. It was the first time he had seen such an unusually thick bald head.
