Sports Festival Time! Overdrive... Gear Six?!

"Daaarling... Wake up..." Momo whispered.

"Babe... C-Can I have... Five more minutes?" I somnolently asked.

"The Sports Festival is today!" Momo told me.

I quickly jumped out of my bed, "REALLY?!"

"Yes, really! I've never seen you jump out of bed so quickly before!" She giggled.

I hurried up and put on my gym uniform. I turned around and saw Momo putting on hers.

"O-Oh! Sorry, I didn't realize you were changing!" I quickly apologized.

Momo looked at me and blinked a couple times, "Alyx, you do realize that we are in fact dating, right? Need I remind you of the past couple 'Special Training' nights? Last night in particular?"

"You know you don't have to call it 'Special Training' anymore, you can use the actual term." I told her.

"Well, the last time I did that, you got rather upset and told me that it didn't sound as cool." Momo countered.

"Oh, I guess you're right." I laughed.

We hurried up and rushed downstairs only to find Mr. Aizawa standing in front of the dorm doors.

"Where do you all think you're going?" He asked.

Mr. Aizawa held a stack of papers and handed each of us back our Modern Hero Art History tests back. I wasn't entirely sure what he was doing.

"Mr. Aizawa, why didn't you hand these back to us in class?" Sero wondered.

"Because depending on your score, it determines whether or not you'll be participating in the Sports Festival tournament. Any score that's 50 or below will not be participating. The same applies to whatever test 3-B has taken." Mr. Aizawa explained.

I looked at my paper, I got a 96 on it! The people that wouldn't be participating are Mineta, Kaminari, Mina, and Koda. Which to me, Kaminari or Mina not being in was rather surprising, given that they studied nearly every day for that test. Regardless, I'm super excited for this tournament!

[3 Hours Later...]

It took a while, but it was finally our time to shine!

"Okay so, just as a little announcement, I'm changing back to 'Gears' instead of calling them 'Modes'." I informed everyone.

"Oh? Why's that? What's with the sudden change?" Deku questioned.

I looked at him and smiled, "You'll see!"

We all turned our attention to the big screen in front of the arena.

"Alright, Ladies and Gentlemen! It's time for the electrifying 3rd Year Sports Festival Tournament! Now, without further ado, here's the teams for the first part of the tournament!" Present Mic announced.

I watched as the screen lit up. It was a bracket made up of 32 teams of 2. It would go down the list from the first two teams down to the last. Those teams would then go up against the winning teams until 4 teams are left, then it'll turn into a singles tournament from then on out. It looks like I'll be teaming up with Bakugo! We're going up against Monoma and Laura to start off the tournament!

[5 Minutes Later...]

We made our way down to the arena. Since we were the first match of the day, we didn't have to wait.

"Amnesia, I sure as hell can handle those two by myself." Bakugo told me.

"I wouldn't count Laura out, Bakugo. She trained with me over the entirety of summer break. Her Quirk has gotten a lot stronger since then, plus she really knows how to use it!" I replied.

Bakugo glanced over at me as we entered the arena. We stood across from Monoma and Laura who were out here before us.

"Well, look at this! We finally meet again, 3-A! I'm going to enjoy embarrassing you, Katsuki." Monoma smiled.

Bakugo's temper flared and I put my arm out. The air horn sounded the start of the battle, but I kept Bakugo back.

"Aly? What are you doing?" Laura wondered.

"There's something I've been meaning to try. Monoma, Laura, you're fighting with everything you've got, right? I think it'd be fair if we both did the same." I shouted to them.

Bakugo looked at me, "Amnesia? What in the hell are you stalling for? I'm trying to kick some ass here!"

I stepped out towards the middle of the arena and activated Mode Five.

*THIRD PERSON*

"What's going on, Annie?" Liz asked.

"I'm not sure..." She replied.

Alyx smiled at Monoma and Laura, "You're gonna love this, trust me!"

He took a deep breath in and stood in a charge up position. The winds slowly picked up and his feet implanted into the ground.

"AND THIS... IS TO GO... EVEN FURTHER BEYOND!!" Alyx roared.

Alyx's Quirk exploded out as he began to charge up! The winds began to grow more and more hellacious as he attempted to break his limits!

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!" He screamed.

Bakugo guarded against the savage winds, "AMNESIA!! IF THIS IS ANOTHER GODDAMN REFERENCE, I'M GONNA KILL YOU IF WE WIN!"

The entire stadium rumbled and violently shook as Alyx kept charging up. Not only was this felt in the stadium, but the entire country of Japan was shaking, almost as if an earthquake of high magnitude was rupturing the land! His Overdrive aura soon surrounded him compactly.

"W-What are you doing Alyx?! It feels like everything's shaking apart!" Mikaboshi exclaimed.

"T-This Heat Energy... I-It's insane! It's almost too much to handle!" Annie shouted.

"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!" Alyx yelled.

With one last push of power, Alyx's Quirk exploded, sending a nearly blinding blue light across the stadium! Everyone unshielded their eyes as the light quickly dissipated.

"H-Holy... Shit!" Annie muttered.

Everyone's eyes were focused on Alyx, who had seemingly undergone a startling new transformation! Marked on his forehead was a glowing red symbol in the shape of a "V" with a line connecting the two lines in the middle. His front bang had a glowing blue line accompanied by blue sparks appearing around him.

"Well, I guess I couldn't expect any less from him!" Sero smiled.

"He's pushed himself further, why? Is there no limit to how high he can reach? At this rate, it's rather terrifying in some stand points, his Quirk seemingly gets stronger by the day." Momo thought out loud.

*LEONIDUS' P.O.V.*

"This... Is Overdrive: Gear Six. It took some time to figure it out but I finally have it down. Sorry about the wait." I told them.

Monoma looked on while Laura seemingly looked extremely excited! Monoma rushed me and used Laura's Quirk against me. The phoenix washed over me but it didn't hurt me one bit.

"W-WHAT?!" Monoma shouted.

Bakugo slammed into Monoma, "FUCKER! YOU'RE MINE NOW!"

As Monoma and Bakugo fought it out, I turned my attention to Laura, she smiled at me as she stood in her fighting stance.

"Ready when you are!" She grinned.

I went lower into Gear Four, that "new" one put a whole lot of strain on me! I charged towards Laura as she unleashed a phoenix towards me. I narrowly dodged it and threw an Overdrive Fist at her, which she blocked with her forearm, Laura hit me right in the jaw with a powerful right hand! I stumbled backwards and she tried to punch me once more. I grabbed her wrist and tossed her over my hip. Laura rolled across the ground, backflipped, and stood across from me once more.

"I gotta hand it to you, I haven't been this excited about fighting in a while!" I beamed.

"Oh yeah? Then how about I turn up the heat!" Laura shouted back.

Her arms became enveloped by an orange, fire-like aura! Right when things were about to get good, Monoma flies dead on into Laura at high speeds, knocking them both out of the arena!

I looked over at Bakugo, disappointed, "Aww... Come on! She was just about to go all out!"

"What? Did your ass WANT to get eliminated or something?" Bakugo argued.

[35 Minutes Later...]

After the first matches were up, it was time for the second set of tag battles! Bakugo and I would be up against Momo and Sero. We watched as Deku & Kirishima go up against Kaibara and Shoto! I felt Momo place her hand on top of mine. She didn't look at me, she kept looking forward at the arena.

"Darling, why must you push yourself? I understand you'd like to get stronger with your Quirk, but if it means hurting yourself or others, then I can't stand for it. I'm sorry but I'm not sure if I can sit back and watch you do this to yourself anymore." Momo told me.

I wasn't entirely sure what to say. Was I really a danger to myself because of my Quirk? After Deku & Kirishima's match was over, it was time for ours. Bakugo and I headed down to the waiting room.

"Hey, let's try and pick up the pace instead of wasting time, eh?" Bakugo elbowed my arm.

I glanced over at him and returned my gaze to my hands. The more I thought and reflected, the more I realized that Momo was right, although she didn't really say it directly. I guess I am a danger to myself. It took only about 5 minutes before we were up and heading out to the arena. As we exited out towards the ring, I didn't feel like winning anymore. We stood across from Sero and Momo who looked ready as can be. I put my hands in my pockets and waited.

"Awesome! I finally get to redeem myself from the First Year Sports Festival!" Sero smiled.

"Yes, and I get to do the same for last years! I hope you're ready, Alyx. We don't plan on losing!" Momo added.

Bakugo flared his Quirk, "Yeah right! This'll be easy! You sure as shit aren't on our level, right, Amnesia?"

I stood there and didn't say anything. I couldn't think of anything to say or even feel at this point. The air horn sounded off, Bakugo took off after both Momo and Sero.

*THIRD PERSON*

"We're off to a rather explosive start! It seems as if Katsuki Bakugo is leading the charge while Alyx Leonidus is just... Standing there? Kind of an odd strategy but nonetheless, expect this one to be a banger folks!" Present Mic announced.

Class 3-A watched as Alyx simply stood there, unmoving like a statue, as Bakugo fought against both Sero and Momo.

"What's Alyx doing? Did they come up with some sort of plan?" Mina wondered.

"I'm not sure, maybe? Whatever they're doing, it's rather unusual for him to be standing around like that with his guard down." Midoriya noted.

Then, a flash of blue light quickly serenaded the stadium, Alyx had entered Infinite Mode!

"Ah crap, just when I thought things couldn't get any worse!" Sero huffed.

Momo jumped back from Bakugo and looked at Alyx, "Over here! I'll take you on!"

Momo's smile soon faded as she saw the look of emptiness in Alyx's eyes. The look of someone who's finally given up was written all over his face. He darted towards Yaoyorozu and she quickly put her shield up, preparing for a devastating strike, but was met with nothing. Momo lowered her shield to find that Alyx had stopped inches away with his fist still outward. Steam rose from his body heavily as his hair fell and faded to its natural state. Alyx fell backwards onto the arena floor. Bakugo and Sero's attention quickly turned to Alyx.

"A-Amnesia?" Bakugo worryingly shouted to him.

The crowd mumbled among each other, wondering what just happened, the look of concern fell over Annie's face. The entire stadium was at a loss until Momo knelt down towards Alyx and discovered something terrifying.

"O-Oh... Oh my God! H-He isn't breathing!" Momo yelled.

Bakugo and Sero rushed over to Momo's side. Kaminari jumped over the railing and ran as fast as he could to Alyx. He quickly knelt down and placed his hand on Alyx's chest.

"Shit... No heartbeat! Stand back, now!" Kaminari shouted.

He placed his hands on Alyx's chest as he zipped down his gym top. He sent electricity into Alyx, making him jolt. Denki counted to five in his head, hoping to get some sign of life before he reached it.

"Come on... Come on damn it..." Kaminari muttered.

He got to five, but there still wasn't any signs of life. He amped his Quirk up and shocked him once more. Tears began to pour down his face.

"I don't care if I fry my brain, just please, start breathing damn it!" He cried.

He counted to five once more, "One... T-Two... T-Th... Three..."

A very slow, steady heartbeat came back to Alyx and Kaminari shot up. He hollered for help and Mr. Aizawa rushed down from the announcer's box. Mirko and Bakugo helped carry Alyx to Recovery Girl's Stadium Office. Momo looked over at Kaminari and hugged him.

[2 Hours Later...]

The tournament had finally come to a close, although everyone wasn't in high spirits. Izuku had bested Katsuki in the final round of the singles tournament portion of the Third Year Sports Festival. Mr. Aizawa entered Recovery Girl's Stadium Office to find a familiar face standing next to Alyx.

"Ah, Shota, it's been a while. Las Vegas, wasn't it? I do apologize for my reckless behavior." Mikaboshi greeted.

"What are you doing here?" Aizawa asked.

"I'm here to watch over Leonidus, he doesn't seem to be showing any signs of waking up." Amatsu replied.

Aizawa walked closer to Mikaboshi and looked at Alyx's expression. Although he was unconscious, there was a look of deep sorrow on his face.

"As he entered Infinite Mode, he used it at maximum capacity, something he wasn't ready for. In turn, it caused his heart to stop due to his velocity. I don't mean to be what you mortals call a 'tattletale', but what that maiden of his spoke to him sparked that event. He believed that she indirectly told him that he was a danger to himself and expressed great concern over him." Mikaboshi continued.

Shota sat down next to Alyx, "So, what you're saying is, is that he tried to prevent himself from being a danger by any means necessary?"

"After heavy thoughts and reflections on his past, I believe so. I'm assuming there's more to it than what our eyes can see, but we won't know that until he wakes up, if he does in fact regain consciousness." Amatsu answered.

The two remained silent, Mikaboshi returned his sight to Alyx.

"There's one thing that stuck out to me," Mikaboshi said, "The last thing he thought of was perhaps he'd be reborn as someone unproblematic."

Shota looked up and surprisingly saw tears fall down Mikaboshi's face.

"No mortal should go through what he's gone through. His mind contains the darkest of evils, none of which I thought I would've seen in the near 3,000 millennium I've existed. The things this boy has seen, the things he's been through... I'd say it's the greatest I've ever come across compared to those that I've been ordered to possess in the past. Every hour I pray to an entity higher than I, if there is one out there, that he may eventually feel the light in his mind and not just his soul." Amatsu continued.

Unbeknownst to them, the door was cracked open, and Yaoyorozu stood on the other side listening in.

[Four Days Later...]

After being watched by Amatsu Mikaboshi, Alyx had finally regained consciousness. He awoke in his dorm room, to Mikaboshi's surprise, not a word was said. No usual "Thank you" or regular greeting from Leonidus, instead there was a visible voided look upon Alyx. He got up and walked onto his balcony right as the others had crest the hill towards the dorms.

"H-Hey! Look! Alyx is out of his room!" Kirishima grinned.

He ran and waved his arms, "Hey! Alyx! It's great to see you back, bro!"

Not one glance was given from Alyx, which caused concern among his peers. As they entered the dorms, they all made their way up to his room, Mikaboshi opened the door to let them inside. Momo stepped forward out onto his balcony.

"Alyx? Are you...?" Momo stopped talking.

Alyx slowly turned his head to look at her. Although he had been unconscious, his eyes were puffy and dark, almost as if he'd been crying for the past several days. For the first time since he regained his consciousness two days prior, Alyx finally spoke.

"You were right, I really am a danger to myself. I guess I was just trying to prove myself wrong by getting stronger by any means necessary. In the end, I guess it only caused more wrongdoings than good. If I allow my Quirk to damage my body, then it should be deemed unstable. An unstable Quirk and person don't belong in a hero training school if all it'll cause is trouble. I guess that's what I'm good at, causing problems." Alyx told them.

Alyx returned his gaze to the Wisteria tree on the hill that still hadn't bloomed, "I'm going to talk to Mr. Aizawa about expelling me from U.A. until I'm no longer a danger to myself or potentially anyone else."

"W-What? Why?" Kaminari questioned.

"It's because..." Alyx muttered.

He turned around and tears filled his eyes, "An unstable person can't be a hero. I am no hero, and I no longer see myself as such."
