4. Gunfights

"You see it as well don't you commander?" Ivar chuckles above the grassy hillside looking at the company commander beside him, looking down to a protected city without notice.

"Yes captain, it's a stronghold controlled by the Empire." The commander answered him, giving the binoculars back to him.

"Tell the others we found prey." He told the commander, without much hesitation he turned around and walked away.

"At least 300 men, 2 dozen miners are what I could count." Ivar concluded once the captains arrived, planning for the attack Ivar had thought of.

Looking through the plans, they were surprised that someone like him could think of something like this.

Looking through, Alois was sceptical. "Don't you think it's literally suicide to try an attack with only your company and not with us?" He is now capable of talking freely but his leg was still injured.

Ivar smirked hearing the lieutenants concerns, "They don't call my ancestors Vikings without a reason lieutenant, watch and learn." He said before leaving the other captains.

"Tobio, get the snipers to be ready to support fire. I'll carry the lieutenant for a while." Alester told him in pity, she has below 20 faith Ivar will try to keep his soldiers alive.

After what seems to be a 2 hour wait, they notice Ivar's company charging the strong hold on the northern and southern sides.

"To be honest, I would think he was going to use them as a meat shield." Alester chuckled, seeing the situation happening. "All snipers fire at will."

Hearing the command, the sniper platoon started firing at the strong hold leaving no surviving soldiers left on the walls. Though the enemies noticed them, they were on a wire on either firing at Ivar's advance or at the further snipers.

But the 300 of the soldiers stationed weren't going to surrender without a fight, blasting everywhere that was firing at them without much accuracy.

"That's some big determination for some dudes stuck in a bastion." Alois is impressed by their will to fight until the last men standing, even against an inevitable death. "Zhang li, have there been any movements beyond the strong hold?"

"Surprisingly no, I really thought there would be the bugs but I guess they have a more important thing to do than to attack worthless soldiers walking?"

Hearing these, Alester was surprised. 'bugs would try to get any free productive resources they could get their hands on, these Arachnids are more developed than i thought.'

While they were disturbed by the inactivity of the bugs, Ivar was shouting war cries with his soldiers. Reaching the wall of the strong hold, they started throwing grenades and mowing them down like flies. Those who haven't died already were slaughtered like animals in a slaughterhouse.

Gripping onto a heavy blaster, he rapidly fired at the vulnerable building in front of them. men inside died without much effort.
