Chapter 14

Xander's POV

I searched everywhere for her. It has been two weeks since Amanda left without me knowing. I know I broke her trust but my anger got the best of me that day. I couldn't help but miss her scent that could calm me down and her sweet voice calling my name. I regretted that I couldn't find her sooner before all this happened.

My wolf has been yearning and whimpering for her to return. Since a few days ago, I couldn't get him to talk to me and if he did, he would blame me for making her react that way. I blamed myself and also cried for her.

I sent search parties to look for her and contacted our allies to look for her. I became a workaholic and didn't bother caring for my health. Everyone in the pack became gloomy because of their Luna going missing. But they were doing fine, better than me at least. Natalie has come back from her house to the pack and has gotten along with Ashton. Catherine and her mate were also here in the pack house. I had severe problems that mainly consisted of psychological, mentally unhealthy because of lack of sleep deprivation and eating problems. And more.

Natalie and Ashton, even some people in the pack have tried convincing me that Amanda would return soon and that I should be healthy when that day comes but only I know that she wasn't going to come back. I felt her trust in me broken the moment she realized I didn't remember her promise. I know, I did a mistake but like humans everyone makes mistakes and deserves a second chance.

To be honest, I'm still finding where Daniel is so that once Amanda would realize I found him she would come hugging into my arms. I deeply missed her. I growled as tears spilled in the middle of my conversation with my beta and pack warriors.

I stood up from my chair and turned my back towards them. "Are you alright?" Ashton came towards me. I ignored his question and spoke "Aren't there any rouge attacks going on in our borders anymore or have they given up?" I said in my domineering tone. "Alpha, the attacks have been slowing down"

One of the warriors replied. "Alpha, we have found out from our spy that the rouges have teamed up and are planning on starting a rebellion on other packs. Two packs have already been taken out. They need more rouges and we have plenty. I suspect that we'll be their next target but they'll have to find the packs weaknesses " Ashton replied , bowing down.

I didn't even notice he bowed down until the meeting was dismissed " Train every wolf in our pack more stricter and harder, leave the small wolves with the older wolves in one of our safest houses, Add more security to our pack borders and align the strongest warriors we trained to be alert, we'll have to be well prepared, this fight is inevitable " I replied seriously, with a stone face and gave commands "This meeting is dismissed "

After everyone but me and Ashton dispersed "Do we still let the word about Amanda spread?" Ashton asked. I shake my head " Reduce the amount of workers I hired for Amanda to be searched, it will be a problem if the rouges find out my weakness and use it to make me turn in my pack". "Yes, Alpha" Ashton replied.

I went back to my room and took a cold shower, afterwards I dressed in comfortable clothes and looked at the white ceiling as I grabbed my pillow that had I took from Amanda's room. It has her scent on it. My wolf whined as we took in her scent and slept. But it was limited.

A slender hand touched my cheek softly as a sweet voice spoke "Xander" My eyes widened as I grabbed the hand "Amanda?" My voice was hoarse, there was a figure in front of me that looked exactly like Amanda and she was crying "Why?" My heart tightened in pain but I didn't speak. I couldn't. I wanted to speak but my throat made no voice movements "Why did you betray me?" She asked crying harder this time . I wanted to say 'I didn't mean it, it was my anger speaking I truly didn't mean this to happen ' I wanted to explain, I tried desperately but still, no sound.

Then suddenly, Amanda turned her back to me as spots of blood appeared on her back, she turned, her eyes were bloody red "Because of you, I will die" I cried, tears spilled my eyes as she turned back again and slowly left, as if she never existed in my life, I screamed "Don't go" " Amanda" "AMANDA"

I woke up with a thud as my head hit the back board. 'Ow' I groaned in pain, the tears clouded my vision so I couldn't see properly. "Had a nightmare again?" Someone spoke. I brushed the tears away as I looked at Natalie. It was as usual, she brought me a sleeping herb that would calm me down and allow me to sleep without any nightmares for two hours.

"Here, have some" She handed me a small cup filled with green liquid with a leaf on top. I drank it in one gulp as she laid me down and sang me a lullaby that brought me to sleep again.

Natalie's POV

It happened again. I had to see Xander in pain again. I still have some feelings for him but now I consider him as my brother and seeing him in constant pain hurts me really bad.

When I came inside his room at 1am with tea in my hand. I waited for a bit and saw him thrashing in his sleepy mumbling 'don't go' 'Amanda' 'AMANDA' he woke up with a thud.

He grumbled in pain and looked at me withe tears in his eyes. I handed him some tea. My mother had bought it for me with the purpose of dealing with the previous trauma of one of my painful memories. I was slowly starting to forget that ever happened because I'm always in s happy mood because of Ashton.

I thought we hated each other but we've become friends. I still don't know who my mate is so I'm still waiting for the day I find out. As soon as the tea kicked in I could hear Xander snoring peacefully. I know two hours of sleep is too little but it was enough to help him gain a little is sleep. Ashton came inside as he saw me dazed

"Nightmares again?" He said coming inside, I stood up and nodded. It wasn't a surprise, only close people knew about Xander's lack of sleep. The pack didn't know, or else they would be too worried. Ashton brought his hand and patted my arm as I returned his oat by placing my hand on top of his, we walked out together.

I looked at Xander one last time and closed the door. "Goodnight Xander" I whispered audibly.
