Cracking story! Keep writing it the way you want to write it because your ideas are really good. The whole sunny natural awakening is very original and yeah. I like sunny and nephis’ relationship growth, it feels different from the main story in a good way, i like your take on the characters, especially cassie, like a naive person but cares deeply about neph. I also like how caster and cassie kind of have a thing and caster might get some redemption, though cassie and casters relationship would splinter the second cassie and neph talk. I could talk about plot details all day about this story but i just want you to know i deeply enjoy it, the writing style is great and keep writing if you are enjoying yourself. Dont force it :)
