Blood wasn't merely just life, it was power, currency, and divine mandate. It was the thread that kept the fragile Empire afloat, and the tool by which the favoured lord over the feeble. Blood was known to all; feared by some, and coveted by others. Streets sang with pained screams, the glorious liquid trailing forth as rivers in the shadows.
It was a tool of peril, and a beacon of hope. Nefaria was an Empire ruled by oppression, criminal organizations fanning flames of despair. Negligence clouded the King’s thoughts, uprooting him from the needs of the people. The seeds of corruption were quick to spread, consuming the tenebrous Empire like a gluttonous plague.
In the midst of such treachery, a suffering youth strived consistently to beat the odds. Ezekiel Stormwing, a young adult with crippling responsibilities, toiled everyday to make ends meet. Living in the struggling West with his father, they laboured ceaselessly under the venomous gaze of malevolent fiends.
The Abyssal Gang was a nefarious group. Their orders were sacred, wrath grousome. Death was the penalty for disobedience, none safe from its chilling embrace. Their leader, Raphael, was the most dangerous of them all, his temper unhinged, thoughts drastic. He forged his group through blood and sweat, climbing towering corpses to reach the top.
It was a world of segregation, all moving to the will of avarice. The wealthy desired more, while the poor pleaded for so little. All chased after coveted dreams, uncaring to others around them. Life was ever moving, satiating the powerful and draining the weak. Everything was mechanical, predictable, untill eventually… it wasn't. On an occasion celebrating Nefaria’s past triumph, war erupted.
It all started at the Castle. Following a sharp gust of wind, an unknown figure emerged, eyes sharp, powers suffocating. With him came the harbingers of war, the heralds of destruction. Vampires fought demonic creatures, painting their lightless Kingdom crimson. Houses burned to ash, lives were lost. It was an unexpected storm that drowned the weak, the survival of the fittest.
In the midst of the chaos, Ezekiel Stormwing found himself caught in the crossfire, his life dangling away in a whirlwind of pain. In a desperate gamble to save his father, he wagered his life. Death coveted his soul, but just before his flame extinguished…it erupted, a shimmering power once sealed within him unlocked.
With rejuvenated resolve, he defied faith. He manifested his desire, saving his father from certain doom. Now, after the war, his eyes settled on a new goal, one that would keep him ever close to the frigid gates of the afterlife.
Will he succeed, or will destiny finally erase his existence?
