Getting job.

Aron merely reached carpenter house and started knocking his door. Creak!

The stable door opened and a middle-aged man appeared before Aron. He looked at the Aron and said with disgust and annoyance.

"I won't give you any food. SCRAM!" He allegedly chased him away with the aggressive move of the hand. The frail boy didn't give up and shouted.

"I am not here for the food. I am looking for work. Could you allow me work in your carpentry?"

He asked with confidence and person looked at him with confusion. Was he the same boy from before? Something was odd about this situation, still, man scanned boy and shook his head.

"Let me think. You probably will be hindering my work with body of yours. Go somewhere else!" He said earnestly and carefully closed the door.

"Whatever, I will go to next place. Someone will permit me to work..."

He walked from house to house, and most people chased him away before he could say anything.

The entire village recognized him and none wanted to have someone useless near their lifeline. After visiting almost all inhabitants, and boy was prepared to give up, but there was still one place to confirm his defeat. The farm on outskirts. It was quite an isolated place from the rest and its owner seemed like an eccentric person.

"Get out, I don't have anything for you." The hoarse voice shouted shrilly from inside.

"I am not here for the food. I am searching for work." Aron tried to prevent a situation that happened to him every time.

"Look at you. You want to work with a bag of bones of yours? Ok, I will give you a chance. " The door opened and an old man with a ragged image appeared before Aron. His expression was emotionless like living was torture itself for him.

"I will do anything!" Aron said with desperate voice if this man will chase him away, it will be considered as total failure.

"Whatever…I am Roger, remember this name. Or not…Whatever. You probably won't work here long…Go clean coop." Roger wasn't enthusiastic about his following performance, however he led him to coop.

It was empty, hens and roosters were merrily running around the farm. Coop's interior was quite untidy, man neglected cleaning for long time.

The old farmer handed him a wooden bucket and spade while his expression signaled him to not break his tools.

"Start from cleaning their feces and move it to the pile next to fields. When you finish this part, check nest boxes if there are nests in decayed state clean them up and go to the barn and take some hay to fill the nests." Man wasn't talkative, he explained boy's task and left.

Aron started cleaning, and it wasn't easy job to do. Chicken's poop likes to dry and become hard to remove, so work became even more tedious. The boy was frail, and he couldn't even move a full bucket, so kid was filling half of it every time. A few terrible hours of tireless work and his stomach naturally started to growl, his task couldn't be even considered half done.

"I need to complete this job." He was determined, none would allow him to work if a boy couldn't perform such a simple thing. A few buckets later the Roger approached and invited him for a dinner. Before they entered the hut, he had pointed at water well and said.

"Go clean yourself, are you pig?"

Aron cleaned himself, Roger left him a bucket filled with water, otherwise he wouldn't be able to get water with feeble arms of his.

The boy entered the hut, and it was quite chaotic. It indicated only one thing, man hated cleaning. Coop and house were in terrible condition only because a farmer didn't clean them for very long time.

"Sit." Roger was already sitting next to the table and there was a prepared spot for Aron.

The youngster sat and in fact, he didn't what to . Most of the locals believed in gods and normal tradition was to thank the gods for food before eating. Those people blindly followed every tradition established generations ago.

"I am sorry but do we thank gods for this food?" Aron asked with a concerned voice as he didn't know about tradition much. In his memories, the previous owner witnessed it through the window in one of the villager's houses.

"Gods abandoned this place long ago. Stop your bullshit and eat!" Roger uttered with little anger in his voice.

Aron didn't want to irritate him more, so staying quiet and eating was a reasonable move. After bowl had become empty, he thanked for food and wanted to go to coop to continue with his task. Old man had another idea about this situation.

"This is all for today. Hens need lying eggs. Come tomorrow if you want…" It was truth or man saw physical state of boy's body and decided to stop before he collapses because of exhaustion.

Aron left the farm with unsteady legs, and a boy fell on bed inside of his hut without any thinking about surrounding filth. Exhausted body made him not mind dirt or leaking roof. It was possible that any place would be good to sleep for current him.

Getting up from bed was quite troublesome because all his muscles were still sore, yet the kid needed to prove himself to the old man. Losing this job meant, coming back to begging for everything. Current him couldn't accept such reality anymore.

"Good morning." Aron greeted him but Roger only uttered some words without proper form.

"It's too early to clean the coop. Come later." He said bluntly and came back to his work.

"I can do other things!" Although his body muscles were still sore, and he was barely walking. A boy was motivated to work to properly impress this old man.

"Oohhh? Really? Do you see this area filled with shattered rocks over there?" He merely pointed at specific area near to fields with scattered rocks everywhere.

"I plan to make to expand fields and those rocks need to be moved from this area. Move them next to this boulder over there." After this, he pointed big boulder hundred meters away from the fields and came back to his work again.

Aron wasn't really efficient. He could typically move a few rocks in every course. It didn't cease him, around two hours later. Roger invited him for proper breakfast, and they ate together.

"You are a weak kid but I see little potential in you. Keep this up and maybe you will become real man someday." He said thoughtfully and they typically began working again.
