Meh, this isn't bad. However, both Naruto and Sasuke have been working hard for the past four years had less/equal amount of development as lee had in 1 year and several months. Naruto almost passed out from Zabuza's killing intent but was okay with Kuramas, who last time I checked is the strongest of the nine tail beasts. The training in the academy was fine, but the results were underwhelming. They should at least be able to defeat Kakashi without the Sharingan individually. Yes, Kakashi is a veteran, but he is a stagnated veteran. He barely improved from the 14 years old version of himself and highly depends on his Sharingan. Kakashi can't use the Chidori without it. Overall, the power scaling is BS. Here is how it should have been. There is a particular cadence and tone to AI stuff, and it is present here. Luckily it is not crushingly so. Still, this results in known entities like Kakashi not being like themselves at times. Even small details like constantly refering to Kakashi's 'eye' seems to ignore the fact that by the fight with Kaguya, Kakashi had his eye restored and in this story itself, his sharingan became innate, yet the story still randomly describes his expressions as though he still has one eye covered. I thought I was being unreasonably irritated but I went back and counted 27 instances of this in 23 chapters! Anywho, the premise is rather interesting and the story still has room to improve and get the characterisations right. That, of course, depends on how much narrative and editorial effort the author is willing to put in.

I like the way it shows how Kakashi steadily gets stronger, and I appreciate how he builds up relationships with the characters even though he is not the original Kakashi. However, it does annoy me that there are some parts that don't fit to canon. For example, Kakashi seals off the Sharingan so that it doesn't drain his chakra. Ok, that's smart. But he can still use Chidori/Raikiri without the Sharingan. The whole point/challenge of chidori was that no one other than a sharingan user could use it. That was why chidori was perfected after Kakashi received Obito's sharingan. But most of my complaints on that front are minute details, so if you don't really care much about sticking close to canon, then it doesn't really matter. What I really love the most is the stability of updates. One chapter per day--that's the definition of paradise.

I am curious why the Hokage and Kakashi are not keeping an eye on him. After all Anbu did that in the canon. Also he is to important of a weapon for them to not keep an eye on.
