can there be multiple exposition sin a story

The writing quality was garbage. Please work on it. The entire story was predictable and cringe. The characters were generic and the way they talked was horrible and cringe. The world was so generic that I rolled my eyes multiple times. Now, with my biggest issue, ducking exposition, so much exposition, half of the chapters sometimes are just exposition, for f's sake, stop.

Review up to around #30. Grammar and spelling are well above average, the story is a slow burn but is slowly progressing at a steady pace, plenty of character development... However... the biggest issue for me is the exposition dumps, monologuing, and unnatural conversations. For example, early on an entire chapter is dedicated to a exposition dump on beasts, which could have been edited down considerably to something much more concise, or even better, have the information naturally dispersed throughout the story. Characters frequently exposition dump or explain things in excruciating detail, spanning multiple long paragraphs without pause, often repeating the same concept multiple times. This makes many conversations feel more like a lecture than a natural conversation. The author could remedy this by having the other characters in the scene interact more, asking questions, pondering on the information provided, or have the characters physically move in the scene.

Love the beginning of the exposition and the foreshadowing of what will happen next in this story. I vote for the third member in Valen's harem will be Agnes Demille. And I believe his interactions and relationships with Wednesday, Enid, and Agnes will be filled with multiple reactions when they find out or witness Valen's powers as an eidolon/siren hybrid and being in a love rectangle with a gothic psychic, a werewolf, and a vanisher (outcast that can turn invisible)!!!!!!!

I'm unsure how to rate this novel. On one hand it's a great novel that is well written and fun to read. On the other hand however, this novel gets bogged down by one of the big sins of writing: too much exposition. This novel starts out great, with a great first chapter. After that however, you get 6-7 chapters of mostly exposition -- which is very much on the heavy side already. When that's through, you think to yourself: finally, now things will really get started! But even after things get started, the exposition keeps coming. Pretty much every little things needs a paragraph of exposition. See a character -> several paragraphs of exposition about said character. Want to walk through a portal -> a paragraph of exposition about what it feels like walking through a portal. See a weapon -> a paragraph of exposition about said type of weapon. It's just too much. To be fair though, besides the 'sin of exposition', I have fairly few complaints about this novel. It's written well, with character that aren't just dumb NPCs and a world and story that are fairly interesting. Sure, there is things I could nit pick about, but it's honestly not worth the effort. When this novel isn't bogged down in its excessive exposition, it's a great read. So my one tip to the author would be: think/talk about things less, but make characters do more. If it were up to me, I'd cut that entire "friend" character out of the novel -- he is the main device for most of the exposition.

Awful. I can barely even call this a fanfic, it's just a "shorter" version of the novel with some slight changes. The Shrek Devils lose all their character and the author does nothing to go outside his comfort zone by changing up the plot a little. It looked good at first but goes down hard in the end since it just follows the plot of the original novel. And the writing quality is rubbish, just endless word vomit across multiple chapters, it's all just exposition, exposition, exposition and terribly structured too. It's like the author is afraid of making actual conversations between characters and just copies stuff from the novel. It's painfully obvious and it's crystal clear that everything bends over so that author can copy as much as possible from the novel, to the point that there really is no purpose in the MC existing since he brings very little uniqueness to the story. In the end nothing MC matters since nothing changes from the original. Disappointed
