first person present tense novels

I like first person writing, but not in present tense. There are a lot of grammatical issues like putting past a nd present tense words in the same sentence and merging sentences together. Otherwise, it is an enjoyable read with an interesting plot.

I usually don’t read in this tense but its pretty badly done. It’s like someone writing present tense for the first time. Plus its also with the burden of having it first person narrated. Just hurts my head reading at it. If you don’t care about grammar then it will be an okay read I guess

So far it is pretty good. The character designs are good and pleasing to the imagination. I like many of the ideas and the little jabs at Twilight. My only gripe is that the author doesn't know how to properly write a first-person perspective and constantly switches from the proper past-tense form to present-tense. It is past-tense, and reading it in present-tense feels incredibly awkward, and so I have to constantly change it in my head as I read so I don't have some discomfort while reading. Otherwise, enjoyable read.

The concept is interesting! As an English teacher, I have some advice if you don't mind me sharing though: I've noticed that you tend to switch back and forth between present-tense and past-tense often. This can be distracting when trying to immerse yourself, and it can interrupt the flow when you're trying to form a mental image of what's happening. Likewise, the vast majority of published novels are written entirely in past-tense, as past-tense words have stronger undertones in the reader's mind when forming mental images. (The only exception to this past-tense restriction is dialogue.) To take some examples from the first chapter: "...relationships can affect how severe" (present-tense) "But this case looks" (present-tense) "This situation confused Aizen" (past-tense) "...now he hasn't remarried" (present-tense) "hard work paid off" (past-tense) "Aizen succeeded in creating" (past-tense) There are also some other grammatical issues, but the writing quality in this novel is still better than 90% of the other novels on this site. The writing has a lot of potential, so I'm giving it a 5-star rating anyways.

I really like this novel. Actually, I rarely read those novels with first POV and present tense, bht man, your novel was unique. I was hooked in the first chapter itself! Keep up the good work!
