Story is light and a good read. The most frustrating thing is the consistency of the story. It’s as if the author changes the plot on a whim to fit whatever they are feeling at that time. First they have brick beds but a few chapters later the FL invents the concepts of bricks. This is ancient China but a 6 year old is reading a tattered copy of the 3 musketeers- a French book. The FL also makes a bag with a cartoon mouse and nothing else is said-no ones baffled at printed fabric depicting things that haven’t even existed yet.
