Good start to the novel. The beginning is pretty suspenseful. I think some of the internal monologue of the MC is slightly jarring, not totally sure if you were going for a comedic edge or not. I would also suggest an improved synopsis that gives some hints about the novel's best selling points, adventure? mystery? war? Keep writing, author, more words = more happiness. :)
