The story of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban begins when Harry is living in his aunt's attic. He doesn't like his aunt's visit and badmouthing him and mentioning his parents. Angry, Harry turns his aunt into a human balloon and runs away from home. The trapped wizard's transport took Harry to the Leaky Cauldron, where the Minister of Magic warned him not to use magic and erased his aunt's memory. Harry, Ron, and Hermione met again in the Leaky Cauldron, where they found Sirius's wanted posters plastered everywhere. Ron's father had told Harry that Sirius had escaped from prison, that he had been a faithful follower of Voldemort, and that he might be coming for Harry. On the back-to-school train, the dementors attacked the carriage and almost sucked Harry's soul out. Professor Lupin saved him and told him that the dementors were after Sirius. Back at Hogwarts, Dumbledore warned everyone not to leave the gates with dementors outside. Ron's pet rat, Scabbers, had gone missing, and he suspected that it had been eaten by Hermione's cat, which had led to their falling out. In the new term, Professor Lupin became Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Hagrid became Professor of Magical Beasts and showed off the griffin, and Malfoy was kicked in the arm for provoking the griffin, and the griffin was sentenced to death.
