This might be an unpopular opinion but I do hope that Lucian makes up with his family and ends up with Avey. On the outside it looks like a typical regressor story where after a tragic death the protagonist come back to his past and uses his knowledge and experience to live a happy life and make the people responsible for his suffering be the ones on the receiving end this time. It might look like that but in reality this is a horror story where the main characters are nothing but playthings for an evil system. Once you begin questioning the things that could only be explained by magic then you will see the system as nothing as pure evil. The ways it manipulated the cast is truly terrifying but what is even more so is that it even manipulated the fan base to relish is his greatest victims suffering. You might think that Lucian is his greatest victim but the thing is he still has his free will while he took the free will of his mother, sister, and love interest and forced them to do the things that are responsible for his suffering only allowing them to return to their true self’s believing they were the ones responsible for their actions only to be sent back in the past with the false hope that they can make amends with Lucian not knowing he is their original. Understanding the things they were forced to do and being sent to the past makes this story have one of the cruelest villains I have read. The only comparison I have is Makima from chainsaw man due to both the system and her being such master manipulators that they even tricked the fan base. Honestly I don’t think that’s comparison does the system justice due to it keeping the body count low and it being a god like entity that our characters have no chance of physically defeat.
