the story was really interesting up until chapter 27. the Mc disguises himself as a human and stays with the Dunedine for a couple of years. I liked the relationship between him and aragorn up until Mc killed some people to put them out of their misery. I thought that it could be an interesting concept (them having a rocky relationship when it came time for the fellowship to form) but the author really ruined it when Mc is found out to be an orc by the dunedain. Mc proceeds to kill them all, then cuts off both of Aragorns arm and leaves him for dead. my main problem with all of this is that Mc was trying to build himself into a member of the dunedain and build up relationships, but then does a 180 and slaughters everyone. The character assassination is real in this book, and it was incredibly frustrating. for that reason, I've decided to drop the book because where does the story go from here? Aragorn is one of the best characters ever written, and the author completely ruined it. my advice is to rewrite the chapters 27 and onwards. I think that you could delete the chapters and take a different route. I really think it was the wrong decision to take the story the way the author did, but it's not too late to rewrite it.

I felt the same when I read it. It just made no sense to me for the author to build up all these relationships just for him to slaughter them all. Felt like all those chapters were just wasted filler at that point.
unfortunately, I think the author just kinda gave up on this story. it's a shame because it was good up until chapter 27
