I won’t recommand this novel, The mc seems to have no goal, no character development. Honestly it would be more fun if you started the novel when he’s 14

Yet he is still the most bland and boring mc ever. You would think someone that old would have a personality other than a piece of cardboard but nope thats all we get

It's not really a goal, so to speak. He's talking about more important things. If it all boils down to just saving his girlfriend, the novel becomes a simple romantic story, in which case this kind of narrative doesn't deserve so much praise.

I mean it's a goal. Whether you think it's a good goal or not is an entirely different matter. Also yes it at its core is a romance. None of these things themselves make a story good or bad. It's the execution that makes the difference.

I have read hundreds of romance novels, and I can state that romantic narratives are among the least satisfying. They lack depth and literary quality. A novel should not be limited to exploring the theme of love, as this can distort it and reduce it to triviality. It is precisely this tendency that ended up boring me and making me lose all interest in this genre of novels.
