I think their relationship is good as how it is. She is a perfect replacement for the parents of Devin who want to see his growth and see him happy. If her husband, for somehow, got killed, either let her remain a widow for the rest of her life or let her join Devin's Harem aftee some kind of story development or you can let her have a relationship with a woman.
