The book drops off part way through and becomes quite boring. The mc reverts any sort of personal development and becomes quite soulless. Also, all the relationships built up are just non-existent now. Very disappointed, especially with how strong this started.

im rather confused what you mean since while it's true he isn't extremely chaotic like he was at the start he is by no means soulless. as for the relationships there hasn't been a single time those had ever been mentioned as severed. they simply aren't the focus of the story so they are only brought up when relevant.
By souless, I mean that a lot of his personality seems to have been lost. He’s more robotic in what he does and feels. As for relationships, I include all types (both romantic and friendly). To me, it felt like a lot of these relationships seemed to stagnate and than slowly dissipate over time.
have you by chance ever seen naruto? almost the entire Uchiha clan acts like leon does in regards to everything you just mentioned. its a product of the sharingan and high magic stat on the falna making his thinking process less chaotic. truthfully he has been the same since pretty much the start. as for the relationships they aren't gone or faded but rather i simply don't give them much attention. in reality he interacts normally with the people his is close to but i just didn't feel like writing out that bit of filler.
