Honestly yes. I don't want a watered down version of something that is not authentic. Translation should alwys be faithful to its original.

Disagreed. If a Chinese reader read the mandarin spells, they would probably understand. However, I imagine most web novel readers cannot read mandarin. Therefore, to be more faithful to the original and let the reader read the spells just like a Chinese reader would, rather than looking at the unknown words and pretending to understand, the language has to be changed from mandarin to English. Good job translator! I appreciate your dedication to quality preservation.

I'm pretty sure it was English. they talk about how come you can get a job anywhere knowing the language and travle and english is the most widespread language. mandarin is the most spoken language because of how many people live in China.

I don't see any reason to change the facts only to justify the translation of the spells. The translator could translate Mandarin spells into English, if you think that spells cannot be translated without emphasizing that they are in English, then I need you to provide some arguments with examples.

If the story is translated to French then the magic would be spoken in French for that is what the reader speaks.

I 100% agree even 1 year later XD , if you change mandarin or whatever the original was to english , there is no need to say its english , otherwise those novels where they speak ancient languages would not be readable
