I love the premise but I have to know how deep is magical research and lore rabbit hole go? Because for me, the deeper the better.

very deep, as the whole magic cultivation system is being built from scratch so a lot of effort would be built in perfecting it. as for the lore, trust me you won't be disappointed.

am curious if there will be romance (I plan on reading either way)

At this point in time there are no plans for romance, but even if there is it would not be a focused on aspect.

To be honest, I will give it a try even if there might be a chance for harem since it's quite new. In other novels there's only a legend about a guy who freed the human race. This might be the first novel of this kind.
