Hi, the name's Sky. Nice, it rhymedπ€. I'm going to review the book based on the start till the alters chapter so...Spoiler warning? Anyway let's get to it. 1-Writing Quality: There are some spelling errors or grammar mistakes in the book but there are almost non existent or if they're there you get immersed in the plot and mostly overlook it. [4 Stars Here] 2-Story Development: The story has a nice plot and it's interesting seeing as she's the mother of all vampires basically π and the oldest werewolf alive, that's gotta be awesome! But it has its Cr*p too, like how the MC tries to be mysterious but actually looks like she's being lazy? I mean, sure let others do stuff since you're OP but can't you at least participate more? And the answer is Puppy has potential. There is also the fact that we don't get enough slice of life or originality to power couples interactions, most scenes are just rewrites of cannon but swapping some characters in them for Astrid. There are things I don't like about the plot but I think it'll come up on the [character design] part of the rating. [3 Stars Here] 3-Character Design: Some characters are consistent with their OG selves but that could be attributed to the author not dabbling (Using smart words to seem like I'm talking about important sh*tπ) too deep with how they could develop, there are exceptions like those directly involved with Astrid but those are counted with one hand like Chris,Derek,π€Is there someone else? Oh yeah Gerard, Kate and Matt.(Yep one hand, the rest are the same with minor dialogues because there's someone else). There's a part on the book that said something about "the universes way of finding a way" or something like that, and it refered to Scott crushing over someone else but since she's not an argent I guess she doesn't matter, no teen romance for "wolf with alpha potential", he has stiles. Scott literally went to prom and had Danny and coach scene but didn't even meet his supposed crush. π€·π»ββοΈPlot armor right here. [3 Stars Here] 4-Update Stability: It's stable, not daily but stable. Like as in a 5 day to a week update... one short chapter but still an update. [4 Stars Here] 5-World Background: Well the world is well described or at least the scenes that are mentioned and that's a great thing to have on a book because it paints a picture. I want to talk some smack here but it'd be unrelated to this point. [5 Stars Here] [Overall:l]: 3.8 Tch... So close to 4 Stars. [Opinion]: The book is actually great and I enjoy Astrid as a protagonist a lot but the book has its flaws but I kind of expected it since it's the author's first book. Expecting perfection would be like asking someone to take there drivers license on a bus. The good but also the bad thing is that the book follows cannon, obviously with some slight changes since there's someone new and it's supposed to be from said person's POV but that's also what limits the book. What I mean is, it's completely normal to want to follow cannon, but changing things or diving the MC a presence is also needed, because even with all the power the MC is basically just an add-on. There's time between teen wolf episodes and also some scenes have minor time skips so that gives enough time for creative development. Slice of life stuff to fill it out or more supernatural stuff, or even spending some century old fortune and stuff. Scotts crush who is irrelevant now could have a bigger role in Scotts life like Allison did in cannon, a +300 surviving ex girlfriend could show up to spice things up on the drama before leaving or becoming a villain in a minor arc between seasons change. Astrid's ex(she doesn't exist I'm just showing possibilities) could end up with Lydia, Scott with Kira and Stiles with Malia. It's all about filling up the chapters. Overall I really enjoy the story and I want to see it become better or branch out from cannon. To new readers I recommend reading at least 3 chapters before making an opinion.
