LIKEthat is korean novels tho, which are usually closer to western novels in length and whatnot. For chinese novels, length is very often a very good indicator of how good the novel is, since the vast majority of authors tend to continue their novel if it is doing well, and only end quickly if it is not doing well (main exception is when authors end one book to start another but that is also almost always after at least a few hundred chapters)
akirakunz:The korean novel "seoul station necromancer" was pretty short but was really good so the story having only 241 chapters doesn't mean it's bad
Nah, vast majority of 1000 chapter Chinese novel i read got worse the more the story progress with only a few like Lord of Mysteries etc can retain their consistency. Especially the cultivation genre where they rinse and repeat their plot to produce more bland chapter.

A lot of short novels are good because they don't have to deal with power creeping and convoluted relations between story arcs and characters. The problem is, One finishes them off in a couples of weeks and feels like too little specially if they were good novels.-
