The reason why it's called the origin bullet is because it harnessed kiritsugu emiya origin (that is servering and binding) by grafting his scraped off rib dust to the bullet and thus also scraping his own soul to bind a servering effect towards a magus magic circuit if hit The origin bullet is unable to directly hit/kill the soul/origin of a person. If it was, anyone who was hit will directly become vegetative. After all, kiritsugu is mainly an expert hitman who only somewhat dabbled in magecraft. Only a person like kiritsugi would origin bullet ever be used because origin bullet is not really cost effective considering the numerous other methods that are more efficient and effective in combat/killing weakness: if you dodge or hide behind armor, wall, or vehicle thats durable enough to withstand the piercing power of the gun kiritsugu use to shoot. As long as ur not hit or doesn't use magic circuit, ur fine

His origin bullet is basically almost nearly no effect towards non magic circuit user. In the story, his origin bullets doesn't have any impact towards kotomine kirei because 2 reason: 1. kirei fighting style doesn't use magic circuit (melee fighter) 2. The impact of the origin bullet only ends up destroying 1 layer of command spell among the numerous that was used by kirei to boost himself. in fandom, I've read the origin bullet doesn't actually wound you but after being hit by one, the spot that was hit only formed a bruise caused by improper healing/necrosis at the hit spot (this is towards normal human). its main effect is towards magus hence the magi killer title
