The Mc literally make sacrifice of other to gain power (same as in reverend insanity), manipulate the feeling of other for his benefit (same as in reverend insanity), lie to all faction (same as in reverend insanity), know the futur (same as in reverend insanity), the Mc is , as you said , ruthless (same as in... oh , reverend insanity), DO have subordinate that he manipulated without giving a F (same as, again, reverend insanity :/ ), make himself be seen as weak to be underrastimate during a long time (well well well, likes in reverrend insanity... what a surprise)... THAT is true, Fang Yuan is like the Ultimate hearthless protagonist but still, Max is "kinda" like him in method/style , and that was the term i used for the review

I don't care. The goals and personalities are different. There is no reason for Max to sacrifice his friends, and Max is a person whose age is not 600 years old to see friendship as nothing. And if he didn't sacrifice his friends or was more evil, this would make Fang Yuan better? Why the comparison? What they lived is completely different, how can he be without any humanity and live bleak all his life just to look more evil what you do is a childish thing

What i was pointing at was the method and though process rather than goal so i don't really understand what is your complain. This had not even something to do with the morality question or who is the most evil/heartless , just point out that they do have similarity, and i genuinely fail to see in what way comparing 2 fictif character is childish. Yeah , max isn't 600 year old, does that stop him to litteraly brainwash his sister/village/ally? Not really. Does he make any genuine friend during the story? Max is an ordinary man who has become in an imaginary world, so as long as he does not treat everything as a fantasy world and does anything without conscience, he is an ordinary man who is not evil. He is 600 years old and does not care about friendship or fun, so the comparison is completely wrong. He is in the end just an ordinary man. Why is he brainwashing? Those close to him will make him empty this has feelings in the end
