The writing quality of the characters thoughts is pretty good, but whenever anyone speaks it gets really bad. I think the translator just ran a program that translated word for word and didn't pay attention to the change in grammar rules between english and the original russian work.

You are quite right about that as I've found the original version (link in one of the comments among the reviews) and if you simply google translate it, what comes out its basically a carbon copy of what has been posted here ;).
