There are other options but other than wux i @ world, they are all subpar. And that site has nowhere near as many novels, so webnovel effectively has a monopoly over the market other than that site. Unfortunately, it technically is not a monopoly due to a few much smaller companies and Webnovel is an overseas corporation, meaning nothing can be done with the Anti-Trust Laws. This leaves us in our current position, where everyone (even a lot of the authors and translators) hate webnovel but there is no satisfactory alternative so we are forced to put up with them which is why they won't change, unless its to become even worse.

Wait, the number of locked chapters has not increased they just reduced the count form 60 to 40. And you cannot really argue with me that those extra 20 chapters made it or break it for the novel you chose. When I check the trial read most of the time I stop after 4-5 chapter in a novel I do not enjoy and even those that I enjoyed I would stop at at 40-50 before I decided to wait and see if they get picked. Now it is the same shit if I do not like a novel I do not care about the number of chapters it has and even if I like it, my taste in novels has to match the majority for it to get picked so I do not get why all this crying is about.

Yes, the number of locked chapters remained the same. However, now, half of the chapters are locked as compared to before when only 1/3rd of the chapters were locked. And yes I agree, taking away 20 chapters wouldn’t make it or break it regarding which novels to support. But that’s besides the point. The point here is that we’re getting 20 chapters less of content people would have otherwise enjoyed, regardless of whether or not it’s picked. From this perspective, I can understand the anger and disapproval. You may not find this reduction to be an annoyance since as you’ve mentioned before, “I stop after 4-5 chapters...” but I think it’s fair to say a lot of people aren’t the same.

I understand. But as much as the decision for novels to be released in trial with 40 chapters instead of 60 annoys me, it bothers me more that people rate 1 star a novel that has nothing to do with this.
