I have reached chapter 79, and it has been a while since my last review; I believe it was at late 40s. Anyway, the more you read this story, the more you will realize the previously non-existent grammatical errors to surface pretty often. At some point, although not concentrated in a specific chapter, you will realize that some of the word choice does not make any sense at all even if you are not trying to nitpick about grammar. For example, the author puts a "my" instead of "him" or vice versa. This can cause you, or at least me, to have to reread the whole sentence of even the previous one just to try and make sense what the paragraph is supposed to say. Consistency is often an issue with fanfiction. It is often the case that a solid work is shown only in the first five to ten chapters before the quality goes downhill. This series is surprisingly able to maintain its quality aside from the writing error mentioned above. Out of the chapters I have read so far, I cannot remember a single chapter that acts as a filler as each chapter has its own story for you to read. One contrasting point that this series does well in my opinion than most other GATE fanfiction is that the aliens are not made to be dumb as rock. Although they start at the same intellectual level, in this story, the aliens adapt and try to learn and understand the NATO forces tactics in order to fight them back. There is an evidence to their attempts to study and come up with something they think may work. There are also many characters that are taken care of. Usually, especially in fanfiction, the sole focus is about action. This would normally leave our characters to be generic and bland. There would not be any sort of attachment or that we knew nothing about said characters but X being in the US Army and Y is being the Empire's general. WOTW's author has done a great job in taking its time to let the readers know a bit more at a time about the main characters as well as side characters.
