I am SO IMPRESSED! Definitely one of the best novels out there. Pro 1- very non stereotypical characters who are all 3D, the bad guys arnt just bad, they have families and aspirations etc and the good guys arnt some saints 2- the character development is fantastic! The main character starts off as a cynical, borderline serial killer type and slowly grows overtime and continues to face new growth hurdles just like all the other characters in the book 3- the level of complexity of the world, magical system, enchanted items, society is simply amazing 4- there is a main plot from the main charachter’s point of view but are many smaller plots and you get to experience the story from the POV of several characters, including bad guys. Also, the level of political complexity is interesting 5- The story goes through several sagas and eventually goes into open world exploration with more sagas 6- the female characters in the book are very strong and are not co dependent on their male counterparts. There is a nice balance 7- healthy dose of comical chapters that have me laughing out loud in public 8- good themes that are well represented- romance, bullying, family, empathy, greed, human brutality, hard work to name a few Cons 1- slow burn at first but well worth the wait bc it takes a while to set things up 2- the level of magical complexity and how the main character levels up is a bit beyond me at times but doesnt detract from the main storyline

LIKEHe does, but not in the first arc after thr academy he starts to change. He still is a cheap sourpuss is many ways but he is less psyco killer like and actually develops a community around him that he cares for. Happens super slow. Solus also develops slowly too which is nice
ike Esdeath in Akame ga Kill, shes easily my favorite character of the show. Actually now that I thinn about it, there were very few enemies in that show that were actually evil, they were either mentally ill, good people tricked into doing bad things, or just people doing what they think is right just like the main character

Can anyone tell if this is going to turn into a harem? I just read up to chapter 129 and absolutely love the anti-hero MC and I'm routing that MF characters Solus will be is true and only love so I'm not into any other female characters and obsessive love and MC has to accept otherwise girl will be broken hearted. Please tell because I don't want to invest more time and then find out is a harem. I'll be the one broken hearted, it's not my genre. If anyone wants to know the reason I'm asking is because is not part of the #tag otherwise I wouldn't started reading it.
Many of the main FL characters have feelings for Lith but it’s not really a harem. It’s quite realistic actually and he chooses not to be with them for very realistic reasons. Also some of them move on and find their own partners that they are happy with and have their own story development which is nice. I’d keep reading. People end up with people you would never expect :-)
Thank you so much for answering my question I will definitely keep reading as I find realistic and very well written. One think I also like is that author doesn't keep reminding us how Lith behaviour is due to his past like many authors out every so many sentences they keep telling "if this was int he past, so ans so wouldn't do this... And so on" I absolutely love this book and will recommend to anyone who likes real emotions and MC not always the one who rescues or is out of his confort zone.
No Harem.
