I stood beside the large lake while watching the distant fishermen on small boats reeling in and throwing their nets. Beside me, Kai looked at the surrounding while her eyes were closed. It was clear that she was at peace.
Being different in color from the rest of the people here, we had garnered quite the attention. Everyone who saw us had blooming smiles as they tried to approach and shake our hands. The kids around followed us like glue. Some even managed to sneak around touch us before running away in fear and jubilation. Those were the brave ones. The others just followed us around.
Some older ones carrying wares would often try to sell something to us by an exorbitant price. They were so convincing that if we were on a vacation, I would have bought everything that caught my eye. But that's not what we were here for.
