"All rise, the Honorable Alexandria Lewis presiding."
After she rang the buzzer to signify to the court officer that she was ready to start, an announcement was made and the judge made her way into the courtroom.
This was probably her first time as she felt like she was stepping onto a concert stage. She knew that the gazes of all those present were already pinned on her but that didn't make her crawl as she took a deep breath before advancing forward and sat behind the bench.
She was nervous as the first defendant was called. She had fifty-five arraignments today and looking at the defendant who seemed to be enjoying his time walking slowly, she frowned as she gazed at him.
"Mr. Jonathan," Alexandria called out. "You seem to have all the time for a leisure walk... If you aren't ready, others are waiting in line. Please be time conscious."
The defendant, Mr. Jonathan met the gaze of the judge before shrugging his shoulders.
